Sometimes time is more valuable than the 4-6k additional you can save. Certainly for me, I gladly took a 5% discount (~3000) plus free all weather mats and wheel locks. Mind you, I took delivery of my C450 the first week it came off the assembly line.
I think this is something a lot of people don't get.
ultimately if you can afford this car in any configuration you just want a good to decent deal and not to be hassled or cheated.
i've told my mom this recently, she's of the very narrow minded asian immigrant approach to things where she thinks saving every $1 is a big deal. but ultimately if you are the type buying luxury cars, the convenience and hassle free experience is worth a few dollars. if you save an extra few bucks and didn't get exactly what you want then was it truly a luxurious experience. if you are doing well enough in life to be buying these cars, honestly agonizing over this isnt worth it.

wow you guys must be some earners. It can take me 2-4 days to earn out that much coin in a week. For the extra 5-7 hours I spent to get 14% off total, my TVM ratio was in the black. for someone who makes that in 1-2 days at best (which I seriously doubt anyone on this board does) I wouldn't imagine it being too much of a time value of money trade off.

just my .02$
Well I'd wait a bit for a better deal like yourself. But I wouldn't say take a leftover that is in the wrong color is missing options etc instead of ordering in order to save money.
I don't think anyone is saying just walk into your nearest dealer and pay msrp and get every option so you can't possibly be unhappy either. But haggling for hours/days to only potentially save say 1% more I would never do. And I mean potentially. I wouldn't want to haggle forever only to not get it for that price, which is the worst outcome
Seems to me that the best deal is the car you want, equipped the way you want it at a price (effort and money) you are prepared to pay. Somebodyelse's deal may be interesting but it is not the be all end all. Too many unknowns.
people dont get rich by wasting money.
if you can save another 1% off, 60k msrp, 1% off is 600$.
how many hours do you have to work to earn 600$ ?
Not enough to give a **** about it. If you value your time at $100 an hour (which I am assuming most do?) and it takes you an hour to get that extra 1% off, that $600 rounds to 0, so who cares.

Or if they worry so much about every penny, maybe they should just buy a Corolla or Focus, and call it a day
People need to understand that not every dealer is willing to have a fire sale at 15% discount, and not everyone have access to fleet discount. These boards are fantastic, a lot of valuable information is shared by enthusiast, but sometimes we may see one member with 15 or 20% discount, we don't know all the circumstances, and just assume that kind of deal is the norm. In Canada, most dealers will negotiate, but the moment the customer's demands become unreasonable, they'll just quit, wish u a good day, and move on.

Trying to negotiate with dealer A based on someone's negotiation with dealer B is that old apples and oranges thing.
In all things automotive, your mileage will vary.

You may have to work your way down to Dealer G before you find that one that will give you the major discount that others won't
I'm sorry, but $600 doesn't amount to a hill of beans in the grand scheme of things when you're talking about a $60,000 + luxury car. I'd gladly pay that extra $600 to a dealership knowing they'll treat me like a king every time I bring my vehicle in for service...which my dealership does BTW.
Free car washes, free alignment checks, free espresso, coffee, pastries (and my favorite...chocolate covered Oreo cookies with the Mercedes logo on them) at the "Espresso Bar"...my wife can even get her nails done there. Heck, every time I'm there I must shake at least 3 different peoples hands...spectacular service for sure!
Really now, what sane person would walk away from a C450 over a measly $600 when you receive service like that?
is this why they can charge 140$ for a freaking wheel lock cus you drive a Mercedes, they know you dont mind paying 140$ for it?
If the prices Mercedes charges for their goods & services bothers you so much, why do you even own a Mercedes?
I worked hard to get where I am, and at this stage of my life the extra money I pay for the privilege of owning such a fine automobile is totally worth it for me.
Remember...life is short, and you can't take it with you when you go...
Seriously, these chocolate covered Oreos are to die for, and my wife won't let me come home without getting her one whenever I go to my dealership (yeah I might have taken a few on my last visit)...

If they put a rub and tug joint in the backroom at the dealership for you while your wife was getting her nails done, that'd be a great place for you and the wife to head to each Saturday morning to start the weekend.
On a more serious note, I'm going to email my SA and tell him to cancel my order unless they start getting some chocolate covered Oreos for me when I'm in there.
