[MOD] Possible to get "blinking" brake light?

I've always like the feature of a blinking brake light when the brake is applied to get the attention of drivers behind you.

Anyone have an idea how to incorporate this thru (obviously) and aftermarket solution?

Thanks,

I haven't tried it, but there's a relay/module for motorcycles to make the brake light do this. I suppose you could adapt it to the 3rd brake light w/o interference to the rest of the system.

Thought this was standard feature of Mercedes. Thought under a sudden hard brake the brake lights would flash to warn the cars behind. No?

Yeah, i know it's pretty easy to add a module for motorcycles, but again MB isn't known for the ease of electronics. Ha.

I can understand the use of this function in an emergency while braking very hard, as it works here in Europe, (part of the presafe system)

But do you mean that you want to use a flashing brake lights all the time?
According to me this would cause even more hazards and confusion in traffic, I would not mess with such a important safety function as the brake lights.

The only auto brand that seems to have this ability as a switchable choice is Hyundai. I see many of these cars with their CHMSL (trade term - Center High Mounted Stop Lamp) flashing when the driver even taps the brake. It annoys the $)(@^& out of me. . .

Is it the adaptive stop light flashing? If so mine doesn't have presafe option but it is listed in my specs.

I don't know if it is still so, but BMW used to have a feature on some of their vehicles which under hard braking would actually light up an additional part of the tail light assembly (beyond the normal brake lights). I saw a BMW with this feature jam on the brakes once and it really does grab more attention. Don't know about M-B...

yeah thats called adaptive brake lights, all bmw's have an extra set of bulbs in the back (usually hidden on the inner part of the L-shape) for hard braking.

I'm surprised there isn't (or hasn't been tapped by smart enough people) so much coding on our c class's. my 3 series had so much coding that forum members would do for free, it was awesome. many functions and features to unlock for us US spec cars that we didn't have. one of them being the emergency hard brake blinking third tail. i've wondered whats the difference or if we have these coding functions in our cars! (someone figure it out)
