Information needed on Wheel and Tire Insurance
Hi everyone,
I've been on the site over the last few months and have gotten a lot of information to help me with ordering my car. I'm getting my C 300 sometime in the next couple of weeks.(hopefully! )
I spoke to the business manager at the dealer about Wheel and Tire Insurance for my car and he quoted me $1795 for a 5 year plan. He says this includes no deductible, no limits, coverage on any tires on the car for the five years, and all cosmetic damage covered. This sounds very pricey to me, based on what I've read on here. What do you think?

Read the fine print.
Like any insurance...always What If?
That is a price that will most likely cover their costs, for now it is a profit maker, and depending on the fine print, they may only conduct a repair vs a replacement.
If you are someone that is likely to curb wheels and you drive a great distance, then it might be worthwhile for you. Also your car insurance also provides coverage in the instance of a impact or blow out due to road debris etc.

Thanks Jim. I'll be reading the fine print tomorrow as I negotiate a better price.
I do feel that I will need this insurance as I put on a lot of miles each year while experiencing the lovely New England winters.

I bought a new C 300 last week and got the same quote. I passed. In the last 25 years I have not yet needed to replace a wheel or tire outside of normal tire wear.. If something happens I will pay, but my track record has been very good.

While it's true that this is not cheap you have to consider it for the long term. I drive about ~50-60 miles every day. Not a lot by most standards but enough. Over the past 5 years i've had to repair 2 rims and replace 4 damaged tires for various reasons beyond normal wear. I still have a rim on my last car that is bent from the ridiculous potholes but I refused to replace it. In C300 terms that's about $1700 right there (more if I replaced the last rim) so it would be a wash. The cosmetic damage to the rims were clearly my fault (save for the pot holes) but the tires were not, so personally I think it's fair price if you live in a snowy area or someplace where there are typically poorly maintained/routinely beat up roads or enough construction that you could end up with damage to your tires repeatedly. Just my 2 cents.

We got the coverage when we picked up our C300 and GLC300. We got a much better price than the OP was quoted, so definitely negotiate hard. If I remember correctly we paid $1200 for six years, no deductible, and everything covered, including cosmetic damage. And if we need to replace the tires before the coverage is up, the coverage transfers to the new tires.
