Installed wireless carlinkit in my 2016 c300 4matic It works very well I had distortion in my speakers due to not grounding the black wire..I grounded the wire in one of the screws on the unit and it sounds clear..I have the command with the 8.5 so had to buy the obd tool for aux/video in motion..What I did notice is mb blue tooth does not play nice with the CarPlay during phone calls so you have to make sure to disable bluetooth on your Mercedes... The carlinkit unit CarPlay audio need a little tweaking on the Waze because it may come out too loud on the voice directions but its a simple fix by lowering the Waze volume in the app just once....I put the unit behind my command radio put the wifi antenna behind the oem radio also CarPlay automatically goes on once I enter my car..oem mic works flawlessly on calls..I have the wireless charger kit replacing my coin/ashtray/cigarette lighter
I lost one the screws for the latch that you have to pull in order get the head unit out..can anybody point me to the size or if I can order one from Mercedes online?...Thanks
I'm curious for everyone who installed the Carlinkit, Sardincar, or any other solution that does not replace the screen, how easy is either CarPlay or Android Auto to use without a touch screen?
well I can use Siri on CarPlay ..also I came from a touch screen vehicle..using the dial feels a lot safer but both are equally distracting while driving...the speech commands work well with Siri supported apps ...skipping tracks is as simple as saying "next track" on your steering wheel control

I was wondering in another post how you installed your car play, and asked you about it.
Just ignore it, now I have my answer
I just picked up a 2017 C300 (certified preowned, CPO). Does anyone know if installing this unit from Carlinkit will affect the warranty on the car in any way?

if they can prove it directly damaged your car in anyway.....as far as engine repair and car ecu I cannot see how it would void your warranty unless while installing the unit you directly damaged an harness or shorted something related to the radio head unit but its an fairly simple install

It works just fine. In fact, for CarPlay, I prefer using the console dial and steering wheel controls vs the touch screens in my other vehicles.
I know this reply is a late, but saw that start4life mentioned that OEM is a better option for Audio 20. I actually have a 17' C300 with Audio 20, and I would like to add Carplay. Anyone have experience aftermarket vs. OEM for Audio 20?
How can I order the OEM Carplay system and how you recommend going about installing it? Would a dealership do it? Or independent shop?
I also have a 2016 C450 AMG and plan to keep the car a few more years. So it would be nice to get apple car play on it asap. Any advice is super appreciated.

Also, how much did it cost you all in?
Do you have Audio20 or Command?
Check your VIN at lastvin.com if you have codes 522, 154, 14U in your data card if you have Audio 20,
If you have these codes then you can enable it yourself if you purchase OBD carplay activator,
SSAlen, What if you have the Comand System? How would it be possible to get Carplay on the system?
I think that Command is not possible OEM way,
My experience is with Audio20, someone in this forum made it possible,
There are third party carplay modules that can be installed in Command,
Or you can swap Command to Audio20 will cost you more then module but it's worth it, I personally I prefer smartphone integration over Command,

this is the FIN that came up under my data card search. Is it not audio20 then?
So I'm researching this. According to the website, the module only works on NTG 5.2, and I believe my vehicle only has NTG 5.0/5.1. Are you saying it would work anyway?

I have code 522 AUDIO 20 RADIO NAVIGATION CAPABLE NTG5, but I assume this is the NTG5.0 version. For the OEM dongle method to work, we need to have NTG5.2 correct? I've searched on ebay and several seller websites and it seems W205 are barely supported so I want to make sure this is available for W205 (2015-2017). I had the same concerns as user trill1 since based on online searches, just having the 522 code isn't enough and NTG version matters. Am I wrong? Is there a way to upgrade to NTG5.2 or is this a completely new unit? Thanks in advance.
