Artico seat splitting- 11 months old

Was horrified today when my Wife spotted this tear in the seat bolster of my W205. This is the standard Artico spec, AMG line sports seat. It looks as if it's been worn and stretched to tearing point, but seems really thin. I'll be calling in at the dealer tomorrow as car is still under a year old with 22K on the clock. Though this stuff was supposed to be tough !. Definitely not been climbing in with sharp objects in my pocket. Certainly wasn't expecting this !

Wow that's impressive! I've never seen so much sand in a Mercedes before. This is the driver side seat I'm guessing. You must be putting a lot of friction and strain on that section when getting in & out of the car - even the stitching along that damaged section looks like it's totally frayed. How does the material feel, I mean is it getting hard and brittle or is it still pliable?

Yeah...the joys of visiting construction sites daily The material appears to have stretched and torn. It's surprisingly thin. Dealer is going to sort it under warranty, so should be no problem, but disappointing that it's happened at all. I thought it was tougher than that.

Doesn't look like something that just erupted from one minute to the next. You must be dragging your bum across that bolster a good bit. You may want to see if you can change your entry/exit process or it's just going to tear again. Maybe raising your seat a bit or less recline to make it easier to get in and out. That leather is tough as any cowhide can be. As pointed out, the worn stitching is evidence that it's not just the material. Do you wear a construction belt or have a lot of items in your pockets?

I've got a horrible experience with artico seats (aka standard AMG line ): once rain reached the dynamic fibre, after a few hours some nasty white marks&spots appeared!
I tried everything to remove them but without success; since the car is out of warranty the dealership told to me try with some expensive treatment (with no guarantee of success)...I'm really disappointed!
One thing is sure: the quality ,under many aspects, is far less inferior than the MB standards of the past!

You mean inferior not less inferior surely?

With regards to the stains this is a well known issue if it's related to white stains appearing on the surface, one that requires replacement of the material from what I've read.

Yep,my fault! Sometimes I'm overconfident with my english; I should check for mistakes.
I know it's a common issue but not in Italy, since the dealer told me "I've never seen something like that-we can't do anything blabla" ; anyway I think I'm going to replace the seats with some aftermarket quality leather.

Never seen that. I have had multiple cars with Artico and it always wore like iron.

No..no construction belt , tools, or anything else in the back pockets. My days of working on the tools are long gone but I do visit several sites each day though. I'm a biggish lad, so it's not the easiest of cars to get into, but I'm always pretty careful. Never had it on any of the other 40 cars I've had in my 35 year driving career.

Dealer told me he has seen it a few times and it will be sorted under warranty.
