Fugly Non Run Flats

It's hard to tell how a new tire is going to look on the car. These, in all honesty, do not look very good at all. They remind me of the plastic wheels on those Power Wheel kiddie toys. I chose them because they were rated very highly for ride quality, low noise and a 22,500 mile tread life guarantee. (45k if not staggered)

So not only are they ugly, apparently I'm going to have them for a very long time. Part of the aesthetic issue is also the reason they ride so beautifully. The sidewall has an extra convexity to it, which makes it a little more compliant. It also creates a substantial curb protection element. The protection bead is a good half inch tall.

On the road, huge difference. Ride is silky, and while you still hear the car's suspension compensating for road imperfections ( like the thump-THUMP over railroad tracks) you don't feel them nearly as much. Handling still feels light and tight like before. If I'm feeling spunky I'll lower AirMatic to Sport, which tightens things up a good bit. So, really not digging the look, but I'll give them awhile to see if they grow on me. If not, I'll have to take the hit and get a set of MP SS instead.

Price is a bargain:

Don't forget a seal and fill kit. I got this one:

I went with the continental DWS06..they look great and perform really good..they were great in the snow and the softend the ride and kept the handling sharp..road noise is down too and I have the 19" rims on my c450.. The AMG suspension in comfort mode is much nicer now

OMG Mike, those tires look absolutely hideous on your C300.

Gungaslow's tires are much more fitting for a Mercedes.

Yeah, they are pretty ugly. They're paid for and mounted so they'll be on there for awhile. I'm going to avoid entering any wheel beauty contests for the time being, unless they're looking for Plus Size models. Ride is really nice though.

2016 C300 4Matic traded in for a 2022 E450 Coupe
I had the dealer install Continental DWS 06 and remove the original summer only runflats .

After 5500 miles I like the ride, lack of noise and traction.

Those Goodrich tires ARE fugly I must say.

True! I'm usually pretty good at wheel & tire stuff, but I screwed the pooch bad on this deal. I'll probably swap them out but I just put $4k into the audio system last week. Might have to wait until the wife goes away for a long weekend again.

I want DWS06 but they do not make the correct size/loadrange combination for the 18's. going to get Pzero all season plus within the next couple weeks

also seal and fill attachment not working, what is the name of it?

I'm getting a set of Yokohama Advan Sport A/S v405's this week to replace my 19" runflat P-zero's. The reviews for this tire have been quite positive from my research. The continental DWS's were on my short list also.

That's a pretty meaty looking tire. It looks a lot like the snow tires I have mounted on the back of my Sprinter. Which reminds me, it's time to take the snow tires off the back of my Sprinter.

I do quite a bit of mud bogging in the C, so I need the super aggressive tread.

Cool. Interested to hear your impressions. I have to say, as funky as the BFGs are, man do they ride nice. It's a different car. I'm wondering if dropping down 5% on the sidewall ratios would be ideal. Aside from the tread, which is admittedly weird, I think they're measuring the sidewall at 40% tread width or 35% as the case may be and then sticking the huge tread block on top of that, so the sidewalls look huge.

wow I'm glad I didn't buy these tires. I almost bought them because I was unable to buy the Continental DWS 06 in my wheel size. They do look horrible, but the reviews are pretty comparable to the DWS 06, which are outstanding.

Glad I opted for full winters and kept my Pirelli P Zero summers

Yeah the reviews are what sold me, both for ride and wet handling. From the pics on TireRack it just looks like a normal tire with a herringbone tread pattern. A couple of reviewers actually said they got compliments on the look (?). Anyway, happy to serve as the boards guinea pig. Do not buy these tires if you're concerned about how your wheels will look. They will look very bad. I've got a 14 year old daughter about to get her permit and I loaded the C300 up fully with safety stuff for that reason, so good grip and quick stops in bad conditions outweighs sexy wheels for the time being.

Much better than the BFGs. I still think the Conti DWS06 looks better or perhaps it's just the picture angle that is tricking my eyes hard to say until you look at them in real life.

I believe the Conti's in the pic are 19", so less sidewall = sexier wheel.
