Checking Oil via the Instrument Cluster in 2016 model

Does anyone know if it's possible to check the oil level via the instrument cluster in the 2016 C300? Nothing in the manual about it

Thanks! Seems odd when competitors have both manual and technological ways of checking.

Actually... all jokes aside, there is an electronic level indication in the Vehicle Data menu. I just tried it and mine didn't show me the actual level quantity, so I'm not sure how or when that display works.

They've hidden it under the service menu, so you need to do the button trick (i.e. set trip meter, then press & hold Pick-Up and OK button)

Didn't know that. I'm guessing that's built into the software for other MB vehicles that have electronic dipstick... It's not showing a reading in the W205 because I remember reading that there is no sensor. I think there may be a low oil warning though, but no measurement before that...

so you reset trip computer and then hold those two buttons down?

From my experience, having the old fashioned dipstick is faster and more accurate. The electronic method as used by BMW is a real pain the butt; very tedious in comparison to a manual dipstick !!!

No, you just need to have the trip meter (i.e. odometer) selected on the middle screen prior to pushing the buttons. There's some more info and even a video in the sticky here:

On a more serious note. One of the members on here posted a short tutorial on how to perform an oil change by extracting it through the dipstick aperture.

Our C450 hasn't shown up yet and I didn't want to test the method out on a brand new Benz anyway. So instead I tried this on my grocery getter and dog hauler (Ford Escape).

I worked great! Easiest oil change ever. It took me about 15 minutes and I did not need to get underneath the car at all. If your oil filter is easily accessible, you really have to try this method. The electric pump was

Audi's electronic oil indicator is a lie. By the time it should 1/2 way between Min/Max, the engine is already below min level on dipstick.
