Part of the family!
Hey guys!
Bought my first Mercedes on Saturday, so I am officially part of the Benz family and a real member of the forums
. I bought a CPO 2015 C300 4matic with premium, multimedia and sports packages. So far I love it, it only had 6k miles on it and doesnt seem to have the noise problem or wrist pin issue. I know some people complain about this car, but I am absolutely in love with it. Its my first major car purchase and I've already got loads of compliments on it, but its super comfortable and fun to drive, which is the most important part of course.
Thanks to everyone here for answering my questions along the way, while I was debating between a 3 series and this. Everyone has been very knowledgeable and friendly, and I was able to make an informed, competent purchase thanks to you all!

Yes! Welcome aboard! I'm sorta new to the W205/C450 family myself, and though I did come from a W204 C-Class, still feel like a baby that came home from maternity ward just last month; certificate says March 5, 2016.
Anyway, glad to here you're enjoying your choice, as 340i Xdrive did cross my mind. (No thanks Audi S4)
Question: You got Airmatic?
Just curious, as I was hoping for the option, but that stayed with C300/400s only. Not that the steel suspension is bad, as I clearly know nothing about opting for the smoother settings; Individual suspension is set to Sport on weekdays, Sport+ when I'm flogging it on weekends. I mean WTH is too firm and/or harsh? My butt must've been corrupted by too many previous cars with Eibach springs.
Well, if you do have Airmatic, how is it?

atl 2 chi - Thanks a lot my man! I got it in your neck of the woods as well, from Naperville. Would highly recommend the dealership.
Mass- Thank you thank you. You were one of the guys I asked the most questions too, so you were a huge help in my decision! thanks agtain
BRBM- I do not have airmatic, as I have the sport package. I will probably end up doing the same settings as you (sport/comfort most days, sport+ for weekends), but I currently have been driving in sport+ only as I havent gotten over the initial rush yet! I dont mind the suspension at all though, its a huge increase over what I previously had.

Congrats! So there's some confusion on the effect the Agility setting has on a non Airmatic car's suspension. It has none. Ride is the same regardless of the Agility setting.
Personally I think the AirMatic is a must have option if you're buying the C as an S Class in compact form, and you want that silky, insulated ride quality, which is important to old dudes like me. I also wanted the Sport body kit, but not the lowered suspension so the AirMatic was the way to go.
If you're in a C for it's sporting nature and would just keep your AirMatic set in Sport or Sport + anyway, save the $ and get the steel suspension. But I'd recommend anyone shopping the C drive at least one Air equipped car. There's a significant difference.

top- We are in the same boat. I graduated nearly 24 months ago however, but similar situation. Feels great, man!
Mike- Ah, I was unaware of that. I wish I would have been able to at least test drive the AirMatic, but the CPOs in my radius didnt have any that fit my other needs (p01, multimedia, certain colors, miles, etc). In any case, that will keep me working hard so I can get another one down the road that has AirMatic!

This old dude doesn't want a silky, insulated ride (read land barge feel). I want to feel the road, which is what the C300 Sport gives me : ) Personal preference is a great thing.

If so, I wasn't aware either. And no wonder I can't feel any difference. Who knew?

I've seen plenty of threads and posts from owners unhappy with the stiffness of the steel suspensions. None from the AirMatic guys complaining that they wasted their money. But hey, if you like your car's ride that's all that matters.

The tranny holds up shifts longer and starts from a stop in 1st in Sport. It holds them even longer in Sport +. It starts in 2nd and upshifts quicker in Comfort. It starts in 2nd and upshifts even quicker in Eco.
MB has had a version of this in some form at least back to the 2000 S Class, but not integrated into COMAND. A toggle for Comfort or Sport for the tranny, and another for the suspension firmness. I think they tossed the AC control and the auto stop control into Agility to pad the significance of it.

(What? Somebody said "Car guy card revoked."?

But I do like whippin 'er around when it's called for; in Sport+ the car stays even nicer & flatter & with a very satisfying on-a-rail feeling.
However, not in the overly stiff, front-heavy, Audi way; more like the old (last gen) G35/G37.....but better. In fact, that was my first thought when test driving one, as my salesman threw it in Sport+ immediately. To be clear, feels kinda like an - if there was one - AWD Nismo 370Z with a longer wheelbase and beefed up chassis that also has comfortable settings, along with a power bump.
I say.....What the hell could be wrong with that? S4s and 340i Xdrives be damned! Got a better option now, *****es! Jury still out on the ATS & Jag XE, though, which I hear are quite the handlers.
Adios, Mike. Take it easy, brother.

"Agility" is really the wrong word since it implies handling. In a non AirMatic car, if you disregard the need to have a custom airflow setting or a custom auto stop setting, the Agility setting manages the transmission's shifting map and that's it.

The 488 AMG Adaptive Suspension found in the C450, C63, and C63S uses a 3-stage damping system that is adjusted using the Dynamic Select (formerly Agility Select) switch.
