Tires

Anyone have any recommendations on the wider tires fitting the OE 19" wheels?

Do the 19" forged wheels from the C63 fit the C450?

I had 19" multi spoke with Pirelli summers.
Happened actually during the day security patrolled office plaza in Lauderdale

The car is a 4matic, so if you get creative with the tires you can mess up the AWD system, if your insurance is getting brand new 19" wheels and tires from the factory, go with getting the Conti Run Flat in 225/40-19 and 255/35-19, this is the factory spec tire and is the most expensive with the run flat since the car has no spare.

Thanks for your input. I ordered the pilot super sports in the stock sizes since I plan on going to the track with the car.
I know you were suggesting spacers in the wheel and tire thread as well.
Can you recommend a particular spacer that will push the stock wheels out flush to the fenders?
Are those safe for track use?
Thanks again for your input

This thread makes me so sad to see all those cars that have been violated like that, I guess it's a great way for a thief to make a quick buck, but the car enthusiast part of me could never understand stripping a car for parts even if I was desperate.

As to the people asking, been running Pilot Super Sports for about 1000 miles now on my BMW and they're great... they are a little slick unless you have heat in them and definitely don't grip well under 40 degrees but if you're in California that shouldn't be an issue. Once they do warm up though, great tire.

A decent defense against this, is to have your local alarm shop add a QUALITY shock sensor to your factory alarm. Then add at least two sets of wheel locks to your wheels. (that would be at least two wheel locks per wheel minumum). Thieves know to jack up both sides of the car at the same time to defeat the tilt sensors present in many alarm systems. And they know most factory alarms do not have shock sensors (due to too many falses from passing 18 wheelers braking, heavy vibrations, etc). So when you have an aftermarket shock sensor installed professionally and adjusted properly, thieves hammering on sockets onto your wheel locks, will trigger the alarm and send them scurrying.

1:58 here gives details on what Im explaining

The ironic part is that a lot of C450 guys are trying to replace their OEM wheels aftermarket and can't because of their unique sizing. So where's the market for these used? The offsets are wrong for the C300/400.

If thieves understood offsets our 450 wheels would be safe. In a thieves mind those fancy AMG wheels will fit on anything.

I'm putting a bright yellow label on the rim stating:

"caution - wheels are specific to this vehicle - don't bother"

WLA or minority areas share the trait of crime... I remember when I lived in Park LaBrea that there were more murders and crime there than in 'other' areas.

I am sorry to hear about your rims man. That is absolutely crappy. I went to UCLA and used to live in West LA, so I feel for you. Hope everything works out for you and thankfully your insurance is covering it.

No they do not come with wheel locks and since all the 19" stock wheels that fit the C450 are on a major back order I highly recommend getting those on and avoiding potholes

What's the largest width I can use on the stock 19" wheels? Feel like the 225 front and 255 rear are a bit narrow.

All your help is greatly appreciated and if you live in Los Angeles get wheel locks as apparently this trend is coming back!

Better than Christmas!!

After a long month finally got my wheels in! I had to pressure MBUSA to take them off a built car waiting to be shipped to a dealer but they are finally here!

as sad as this is, it happens all the time in NY too. Specially in upper-mid and somewhat upscale neighborhoods.

it doesn't matter what kind of wheel locks you have, if they want/need them, they will take it.

the problem is that there is a market for them on craigslist and ebay. It's an easy grab and sell.
And no, it's not drug addicts. it's just people who need an easy life.

couple of months ago they stopped a suspicious Cargo van in Queens (NY). Upon inspection of the van they found 6 sets of nissan and honda rims stolen.

The criminals were 17~26 year olds. And judging by their last names...........you get the point.

Think about it for a second, 17 year old boy stealing $1k+ property.............sigh...

Are they 19" run flats ?
Mine came with 19" run flats and the ride on local streets are stiff. The shakes hard on small road bumps. Tired of coffee spills. I heard some on suggested to try Michelin's non run flats. Just wondering how was the ride afterwards.
