Map Pilot - Not enough space on the card
Hi,
I have the Garmin Map Point, and just updated it to the latest available on the internet, via Mercedes Download Manager, which is for the Programs, V6.0 SW28.18 Build 16/03.00.
All fine until here. Then I have the Europe Maps 2014 V2.0, and it tells me that there is a new update available, 2015 (v5.0) Europe (16332MB). But it is telling me that there is no sufficient Space on the SD CARD. The card itself is of 16Gb, so seems normal. What can I do?

Thanks. But which are the files that I can delete without affecting the card?
Are the new versions still coming on 16Gb cards? or maybe the new versions from 2016 are already on 32Gb?
If I buy a card, then how can I make it work? most probably it won't, no?

Probably you have old 16GB SD card. Newer cars has 32GB. Problem is that if you copy your card on a bigger one it will not work (to eliminate piracy). At the moment only option is buying new card from Mercedes (600 euro).
I'm just in contact with my seller. I have an answer that Mercedes thinking about that problem and in few weeks should be delivered upgrade cards for lower price (for people who has old 16gb cards). Price should be about old Becker update (about 100euro) – that I’m not 100% sure. According German W205 forum new cards should be delivered in 21th week, but before they wrote 18th week so that info isn’t 100% sure too.

It's a bit of non-sense that today they don't allow the replace of the cards, and that the maps are exactly 16Gb. Did anyone tried clonning the card? is not for piracy reasons, but to go to a bigger card?

I'd still try to copy to the old card to a bigger card. Whatever permission files the system uses to confirm association to your VIN would come over with everything else from the card. As long as the new card is going back in your car I think you'd be okay. Worst case is you have a new 32GB SD card that doesn't work in the car. Just open the 16GB card on a PC, click Select All and drag it to folder, then select the contents of the folder and copy it in its entirety to the 32GB card.

It does look like the new maps are just the size that goes into a 16GB card, probably I just need to delete some of the files and languages to make space available? Does anyone have a clue which are the mandatory files that we shouldn't delete?

Changing CID is impossible. It is recorded on card during production and you can't change it. So maybe it is possible but cost will be bigger than buying new card (even for 700 euro).
New maps need at least 17GB free space on SD card. Idea with delete some files may work, but it shouldn't be like that. New maps or must be smaller or Mercedes should deliver new bigger cards. At the moment I'm waiting for it but if not be any news before my holidays I will try with your idea. I have already downloaded that new bigger map.

In Europe Mercedes delivery new updated bigger cards - cost about 200 euro. For me it is too much (I compare it with map update for old Mercedes Becker MapPilot where cost is less than 100 euro), so finally I bought standard new card on eBay for about 110 euro. So I did nothing with old card.
