Can I use my phone's data connection?

Hi,

I have the 2015 C300 without Comand system. I guess it's the Audio20 (single CD, SD card for Navigation whcih I don't have yet).

Question is about using the Internet Apps (or internet radio). I do not have the monthly MBrace subscription. Can I share my phone's data connection using BT tethering? I tried enabling BT share internet on my Android. The phone is connected to the car via BT. But when I go to Internet Apps or Radio it shows me the screen to Activate the subscription by calling in.

Can this be done?

Thanks,
Ravneet

I am in US. Is it a restriction in the car? My carrier and phone does allow to share the data using BT tethering.

Works in the U.K. but painfully slow.

In my car with Comand, tethering for data only works when connected by USB but I'm pretty sure my previous phone tethered with Bluetooth. I am in Canada so I don't know if that is the difference.

I ended up activating the trial period to see what all things are available.
Yes, it's very slow (3G on Verizon I guess). The only useful thing is the weather App so far.

Now I cannot try tethering as the trial package is active and data will go through that.

But still would like to know if the restriction is in the car for US users.

Thanks!

Yes. Its a restriction on the US cars. Total BS IMO. Everything about this car is BS for the US. Video in motion locked down...Internet tether locked down...Traffic on the NAV costs money through Sirrus. None of that is the case in Europe.

I've tethered with my Android phone but it is very slow. And then what's available is pretty crappy and slow. Apparently the data goes through MB VPN server. I now don't even bother, waste of time.

Yes, I am disappointed, this coming from a Benz.
