Just got my VIN for my C450, which is just days away from delivery. Decided to try a few VIN decoding tools online, and ended up on the MB USA recall finder page. This is what came up. My 2016 C450 VIN comes up as a 2016 AMG C 43.
Maybe MB decided to upgrade me for free, just because I'm a nice guy!

i wonder if the model designation changes the way insurance companies charge you.
i.e. a challenger scat pack (with options) vs a challenger SRT (no options) both share the same 485hp engine, both around the same price, the SRT comes out to a decent amount more per month

Guess I'll find out when I get my insurance update when my car arrives. When I switched from my 09 C 350 to my '12 C 350 the increase was only a couple hundred bucks. If it's considerably more than that this time it must be the AMG factor.

Well with State Farm my C450 comes up as an Amg model. About the same price as a c63
Likely a bad thing ie. as expensive as a C63 and more than a C300.
understood, though it could mean that the C450 is more expensive than the C300 (this is expected) but it may not be a huge difference to a C63. does that make sense?

That would have been my assumption as well. It may depend on the insurance company. I just did the online quote process with my insurance co and it looks like going from a 2012 C 350 to a 2016 C450 will increase my rate by about $200/yr, an approx. 16% increase. In the Toronto area we already have the highest rates in the country, so we're unfortunately used to paying thru the nose. I can live with a $17/mo increase.
