Why is Garmin Map Pilot so slow?

The Garmin Map Pilot on my 2016 C200 takes an age to work out routes. It can take more than two minutes to work out a single route option for a one hour journey.
Is this usual?

Mercedes benz put this piece of garbage in starting in 2014. What do you expect garbage in garbage out. They probably saved a few pennies from the switch. No problems prior to 2013 but in 2014 when they switched big problems.

Not noticed that on my 2016 C200, so solely based on my experience I would say what you are seeing may not be typical.

Check the other threads going back to the 2014 I am sorry but it is very typical. One guy said he lived in a corn field according to garmen. And MB is aware but has no solution

I tried one car in the show room with 7" screen - same screen as you have Garmin Map.

It's noticeably slower than the 8.4" screen. I am not sure if they have chips upgraded in 8.4, so that it processes quicker. For MB's map, it usually take less than a few seconds to compute the route.

I must agree, the navigation in my c350e is... Well, let's call it the Microsoft Internet Explorer of navigation systems :P

It's sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow^40...

In my old car i had a Pioneer F940BT, much better IMO. Quick in giving routes, much easier to use, lightning fast when entering a destination compared to the Audio20 navigation from garmin. This HU as a whole is something MB really has to change to be more fitting in terms of quality, speed and value for the customer as a whole.

Tried an experiment tonight. 93 mile route (mix of motorway and A roads) took 11 seconds to compute.

Is that acceptable or unacceptable?

The hardware in comand is entirely different and more powerful than that in audio 20/Garmin.

Having said that, it should not take several minutes to work out a route and I'd speak with your dealer.

The question is only to yourself and whether it causes inconvenience vs what you can do about it.

Its entirely acceptable to me and is typical of the route calculation times I experience with my Garmin. The point of the question is that other posters are criticising Garmin (which is the subject off this thread) as being very slow.

Where it is slow is initial start up when getting in the car. After that it is ok.

I was trying to get a sense of what times they actually see with Garmin. I'm being told my experience is not typical.

The Garmin Map Pilot IS absolutely SLOW when loading a route. Sometimes it is painful to watch it calculate the route. It is very typical of the Garmin. I've NEVER seen it be quick...even re-routing on the go.

You'll get used to it...unfortunately.

I complained to my service advisor last time I was at my dealer and she said it's a POC.

You'll just have to live with it. Or do what I do and use Google Maps...

Yeah, Map Pilot is horrendously slow, it can take 1-2 minutes sometimes to get a route. Accuracy is also bad, It continues to try and get me to use a route which is probably the slowest. I find I can only use it for general use and have to use google maps on my phone for fast, accurate, traffic based driving. Any £50 Sat-Nav system would eat the map-pilot for breakfast in terms of well, everything...

So in general terms, what you are saying is that Garmin would beat the s**t out of Garmin?
