Coding for Mercedes?
Coding for Mercedes?
Has anyone attempted to code their C450? Since the car is an AMG, I'm assuming you can probably code the AMG screen and things like that. Has anyone tested the waters? I'm coming from many, many years of owning a BMW. So, does anyone know if it's even possible?
Honestly, I don't even know what options I have, but I assume I can add in the AMG screen into my C450?

"Coding" in the BMW world is ubiquitous.
- Video in Motion
- Turned the Seatbelt Gong off
- Side View Cameras on at all speeds
- Remove PDC + cam disclaimer
- Mirrors close & open automatically
- Remember last Dynamic setting
- Change ringtones
- Adjust momentary blinker setting from 3 to x
- Adjust intensity of daytime halo's
Obviously there is a ton more, these are just a few that I know a lot of people wanted.
The coding and the firmware which runs on the module are two separate issues. I've dabbled in the SA coding changes because I wanted to enable SA 513 (Road Sign Detection) and yes you can enable the variant coding, but it's only part of the overall updates you then need to do. The module then has to go through Online SCN update (via the Benz servers; which require a login). Without it, you just get a bunch of errors and the modules will report invalid variant coding as errors. I wouldn't say that every code change requires SCN, but you probably only get to tweak very minor things. You can also do a fair amount of module configuration by changing config bits to alter the control module behavior. Keep in mind there's over 50 modules in the car, so you really need to know your stuff when you go in there. Lots of opportunity to break things because you often don't know the many inter dependencies that exist within the system.
I can tell you now that aspects such as VIM are locked down but you can buy an unlock from guys like dvdinmotion, which I think uses a boot loader to hijack the map update routine. Some of the modules are protected from changes via a seed/key algorithm (e.g. engine and gearbox modules) to stop configuration changes and without the right files or a key unlock you won't be able to do squat. There are guys out there that will sell you key unlocks but they are often session based and so the cost of doing multiple changes can quickly add up.
To dabble in this field you'll need a mux (e.g. SD Connect 4), a copy of Xentry and Vediamo. Head over to the MMH forum if you want to find people who do a lot of tweaking in this area. Be wary though - there's a lot of shady stuff that goes on there and it's often linked to making money.

I actually had a guy in poland, use remote access into my laptop which was connected to my F30s ENET port via ethernet (and internet over wifi) and he turned on the sirius radio remotely.
Pretty amazing that you can do that.
You can code enhanced Bluetooth and the European LED headlights/brake lights!

So you cannot display the tables off of which the ECU runs the fuel injection? or you can display them, but not alter them?
Say you change injectors and you need to open up the table with the flow of the injectors and adjust the number for your new injectors. Is this something that can be opened, or no?
Do you need vediamo for this?
