Saw that on the local news. Not sure how you can even do that.

That post made the former adjuster in me cringe. Her carrier owes for the collision damage on the car she flipped, plus the property damage X 3 on the cars she hit. Some poor SOB in claims is going to have a crappy Monday.

I bet the dealership will not only want the money for damages, but the lose of value due to the damages. I wonder would she be able to afford a new car now.

Her insurance will cover the car she was driving but not any DOV claim, less her collision deductible. Most states do not recognize first party diminution of value. The dealer is probably SOL on that aspect. There is no dollar limit on collision coverage though so as far as repairs or a total loss the dealer will be made whole on the roll over.

She also hit two of the dealers parked cars. There is a policy limit on property damage coverage so depending on her limit ($10k, $25k, etc) and the extent of damage she might blow through that limit and be personally exposed on PD.

The real wrinkle is the damage she caused her own car. It's not a PD claim, because you aren't covered under PD for damage you cause to your own vehicle. It's not a collision claim because she wasn't operating it at the time of the loss. I guess comprehensive might be in play. Like I said, nightmare of coverage and liability issues for an adjuster to sort out.

man, that is one akward position to be for both parties.

i just cannot understand how you confuse the gas with the brake.

imagine if she was some average-income lady who just wanted to buy a used benz, and she only has liability on her current insurance. Man, that'll destroy her financialy.

i'm assuming she was test driving a used ML, since the new ones have an auto-braking feature, no?

She was defi on the the new car lot. Ballston is a tight built up area. The used car lot is down the street about a block.

Besides sheceas in a GLE per the video.

I bet she feels like total **** honestly. But after reading Mikes post. She's in for a nightmare insurance adjuster.

Hopefully she has a good insurance carrier. But she will likely face steep increases or be dropped.

To go clear across the parking lot and steer it into her car(amongst others) I just don't know how someone does that. She so freaked out she continues to give more and more gas lol. Scary people on the road could be that idiotic. Clearly she needs toy get more comfortable behind the wheel.
