I've already added my AMG badge to the back, and installed my Chinese knockoff Affalterbach badge battery cover to my FOB...

That's when you bought the car? A build date should only be month and year.

There must be some pattern to this. Are all US C450's built in Alabama? Or did early runs come out of Germany?

I just pinged my sales guy to see if he heard anything about this. He's a younger guy and usually has the skinny on stuff like this. Hopefully he's heard something and can shed some light.

So my guy has not heard anything and said it looks random to him as well. MASSC450 has the newest posted build date and his still says C450. Only thing I can fathom is that they are working their way forward, from earliest production to latest.

My guy also reminded me again that they will rebadge to C43, this includes the fender biturbo badge, C43 on right side of trunk and AMG on the left. I will not be doing that!

I wouldn't mind the rebadging on the front fenders since the C450 has the same "biturbo" engine as the C43.

Even though I added the "AMG" badge to the back (technically our cars are referred to by Mercedes Benz as "C450 AMG"), I'm with you on the idea of rebadging to "C43"...I wouldn't do it either...that would be a fib since the C450 has the 7 spd transmission and not the 9 spd transmission of the C43 (or the same front to back drive ratio).

I do admit though I fibbed a little by adding the Affalterbach battery cover to my FOB...

I personally do not see anything wrong with that battery cover on the keyfob...I've thought about it myself. To me that is almost like wearing a hat or jersey for your favorite team.

It's when you put on the uniform and tell people you're a player that it sounds phony. People on the road who know cars, will recognize badging on the trunk but I doubt anyone who is not an AMG enthusiast will even know there is a different keyfob. I certainly didn't.

I put a BMW logo on my key fob. And I put an AMG logo on my trunk. So now I can say I have a BMWAMG!!!!

No that's not when I bought. That's my estimated date based on tracking the manufacturing progress. It may be a few days off. The build date was scheduled as first decade (ie. first 10 days) of May - it may have been built a few days later. I actually factory-ordered it in March, and took delivery June 13.

All North American C's are built in Alabama, based on everything I've read and been told by the dealer.

My C450 is still listed as a C450 in Netstar and on CarFax, which is all that really matters. I'm guessing the same can be said of all your C450s, as well.
