2016 C300 COMAND - "secret" voice commands?

I am trying to get used to the Command system on my 2016 C300. Mainly the GPS voice commands as I use them the most. I have already found "zoom in/out" somewhere on the internet. I suspect there are many other navigation voice command that are not in the "help navigation" voice listing.

Anyone have a link or list of additional navigation commands? Thanks.

i have one i used the first 3 weeks of owning the car.

"you f-u-c-k-i-n-g piece of s-h-i-t!"

i stopped using voice commands after that, that seems to help a lot for me.

Have you out the manual?
I believe that there is more than what you see on screen.
Also it's good to know you can for instance, directly day a phone command while you are in navigation.
If spoken correctly it even accepts commands like:

Call name {name of person} {mobile|private}

Directly.

Regards,

Gerrit

Thanks for that info on the phone. No, I haven't had the opportunity to go through the manual yet, we started a trip the day after we bought the car. We did discover quite a bit beyond the Command's voice "help" command just by playing around with it while driving. But of course there are many functions that cannot be executed while driving even using voice. I thought somewhere on the 'net there would be a concise listing of voice commands (seems like everything else in the world is somewhere there!).

" Dial Nicole " ... Okay searching points of interest.
" Cancel "
"CALL NICOLE" ... Sorry?
" DIAL NICOLE" ... {DEAD AIR}
"Search for VW dealership" that voice command system worked!

This made me laugh...

Must be your "New Yorker" accent because my COMAND system has no problem understanding my "wicked bad" Boston accent.

The standalone Comand manual was useful to me; you can access it here: https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/servi...owners_manuals

I have had consistent good luck with these:
- "Enter destination" (followed up with a full street address, unless the town/city name has an odd pronunciation like "Lisle")
- "Guidance instructions off"
- "Alternate route"
- "Next song" (when iPhone plugged in)
- "Find playlist"

There is a process available in Comand for training the voice recognition. I haven't tried it yet but would be interested to hear from folks who have -- did it make a difference?

Yes, I have those basic COMAND commands already. You can add to that <navigation> "Zoom in <out>". That works well also.

I am in the process of taking my 200+ way points that I loaded onto my car's SD card from my PC as a gpx file into "car GPS" Contacts. Once in the car and not moving, I call up each from the memory card, then save it as a New Contact. As you probably know, one cannot enter a destination from the memory card while driving, but you can using the Search Address command once then are loaded into the car's GPS as I described. So now I can do the navigation command "Find Address" followed my the appropriate one in my GPS, like "Home Depot Collierville". I have found this to be much easier than trying to use the navigation system's POI database, which is much less user friendly than any of the 20 or so GPS units I've owned in the last 15+ years.

I wish I could figure out how to be able to select a personal route while in the moving car, but I have not been able to crack that code yet.

Speaking of "find playlist", I'm assuming that's used with your SD memory card? I rarely use the music option other than to either use satellite radio (until the "free" subscription runs out) or my own MP3 music files without any playlist. But it might be nice to build a couple playlists for my wife....it's her car.

I did that, but my wife usually uses the car, and she has noticed no difference after I customized it to my voice.....the directions are unclear in the MB videos if the voice system can be "educated" on more than one voice. Like the fellow above, I have found that many voice commands simply do not work....however, I found that for some, repeated attempts with the same thing, such as "enter destination", "123 Fairfield Street Pensacola" will work. At least with my voice and about 4 attempts to get it to accept that. Once it understands me, it continues to work well for that address. When I was still working, my job involved voice recognition a little, so I know what to expect a GPS not to understand...and so far miss Mercedes often meets my expectations.

I guess the recognition depends a lot in your voice and pronunciation.
I have it set to Dutch language and recognition works great for me.
Calling persons from the phone book or entering addresses works flawlessly for me.
I never felt the need to train it for my voice.
It's strange to hear that a lot of people have problems with it because I would guess that English (a more common language) would be understood better.
But if I going to refer to the 2 Ford Mondeo's I had the first had no problems with recognition of addresses but the second was worse. 2 software updates didn't solved it.
Might be that it's a hardware issue.

No, I just meant the iphone plugged in via USB cable, which I prefer to bluetooth because the sound quality seems a bit more dependable and it recharges the phone while I drive. Once you get the car to recognize the phone as a storage device, you can access playlists, albums, etc. 1 in 10 times, my car doesn't recognize the phone and I have to go through the 3-4 menu choices to reconnect, but I don't mind.

I likewise am not paying for the Sirius after the free period, since I am pretty sure we get 3 years of Sirius real-time traffic info regardless. If I am proven wrong there, apparently it's only $4-5/month to get Sirius traffic without the music stations. (If we could get Waze on the big screen, even this wouldn't be a Sirius keeper IMO.) Cheers
