Aw, Man :(

Damn thing hasn't even had its first oil change yet. Just got it factory ordered in April. Some poor old fella was blinded by the sun and never saw me. Hit me once hard at around 40 (no braking) and pushed me ten feet or so forward and then hit a second time. No injuries but scared the crap out of my 14 year old (and the old dude). I'm probably gonna be sore tomorrow.

The car held up okay. Pre-safe snapped the seatbelts back hard, so that part works. There's a crease in the right quarter at the base of the C pillar so I'm guessing some minor structural unibody damage, rear bumper, left lamp, decklid, rear panel is shot, trunk floor might be involved and there's an endless cascade of yellow error messages for just about every safety system in the center display.

My buddy owns the local MB certified body shop and given the age/miles there shouldn't be an issue with all OEM. Maybe I'll get one of those C63 diffusers and tips.

Damn that's AWFUL, glad you and your son were okay. Hope the repair process is quick and painless. Did the airbag in the headrests deploy?

No SRS deployment on my car, but I think that's normal in a rear ender. I have Drivers Assistance so I'm guessing the car knew the guy was coming and flashed the tail lights. Belts tightened either at impact or just before. Otherwise I couldn't tell anything else the car did. My kid is supposed to get her permit next month. Hopefully this won't put her off driving. She was pretty wigged out. I had to have my wife come to the scene to take home.

I was an adjuster for ten years so I don't anticipate any problems with the claim

man that sucks!

my car got T-boned exactly 5 months into owning the car, at about 6k miles.

i took it to the MB dealer directly and it came out 12k in estimates, the other party's insurance ended up paying the MB dealer 8.9k + 1.5k for my caddy CTS rental for 1 month.

thank god i leased my car, i can only imagine the value drop on these cars after an accident shows up on carfax.

Woof, what a mess! Good thing everyone was OK.
Take this opportunity to correct all of the factory fitment issues with the taillights and bumper.

Sorry to hear that happened. Thankfully, you and your son were ok.
That driver assist helped you and that money paid back!

Crap! Sorry to hear about it. Blinded by the sun is no excuse really - if you can't see where you're going then it's time to pull over or get yourself some better sunglasses .. especially if you're driving a tank. The sooner they can mandate or bring in the self braking technology like on the Merc, the better in my view. This kind of **** happens too often - especially with people distracted by their mobile phones.

Yeah. The C would have self braked. I sent the pics to my body guy, he ballparked $12k. The car has to be rebuilt on a huge rig called a Celette bench. MB mandates it. Aluminum construction is also a challenge. He does very good work though. Might be without the car for awhile. Got a new Lincoln MKZ as a rental. Umm, no. Just no.

Pretty nice. I don't think it's the new Revel system but it sounds very nice. Clean and full. I probably wouldn't have to do any upgrades.

Apple CarPlay too.

Wow, that's awful! Must have been a traumatic experience. Glad you and your daughter are alright. I hope neither of you get any whiplash. Does the self brake work all the time or is it only operational with distronic driver's assist activated?

Sorry about the bad luck and glad you are ok.

But since you are ok I'm gonna say I chuckled a little when I read the other guy said he was blinded by sunlight and in the photo the FL plate says 'the sunshine state'.

Thankfully you and your family weren't injured in what seems like a pretty heavy impact. Given that there is definitely some structural damage, is it possible for the repair shop to fix the car back to its original level of structural integrity ?

Ouch!

Well, you know what they say... ***** happens 😖! But, i don't buy the "sun" excuse either. The c class has one of the brightest taillights i've ever seen around.
At least everyone is okay...

good luck with the repairs.
