I'm considering purchasing an illuminated star from Ali Express, there's a seller knocking them out at £40 at the minute so i'm tempted to go for one! I've done a bit of research and can see that the install is vastly different to the OEM star, the ones from Ali Express only have two wires (Positive and negative)
Where would I wire up the positive cable to? I'd obviously want the star to illuminated when the DRL Lightbar illuminates when unlocking, locking the car etc
Ok i've just been outside and had a look at the wiring loom connector for my headlights. The wires are nice and accessible for me to tap into but I just need to know which wire to tap into. Does anybody know which wire in that connector to tap into?
I have the install Indtructions from MB. Send me your email and I will send you what I have. I bought the star and the harness. So it had a pin that just had to be plugged into the connector, so not too sure what I have will help you since it sounds like you just wanna "t" tap the harness

Ahh, the one I'm looking at isn't genuine Mercedes so the install instructions won't be relevant. The ones from Ali Express just have 2 wires on them, positive and negative. I just need to know which wire from the back of the headlight assembly connector to tap into to make the star illuminate on unlocking, locking and driving.
I looked at those on amazon and the seller refused to answer about install. Only responded saying it was compatible with my car. I re asked the question and they deleted it. Tried to file a complaint with amazon but they deleted the complaint.
Ok looks like I'm going to have to try and work this one out for myself. If I turn one of my parking lights on, remove the plug from the back of one of whichever headlight I active and then use a multimeter to see which wire is delivering 12v, I should be good to go to tap into that shouldn't i?
I have 2013 C300 Sport. I just bought the star from a brand named SPLAUTO. Don't know if it's a reliable brand or not but need instructions on how to install if anyone can help!!! Thank you
Maybe I'm alone in this, but I feel as though the illuminated star is quite possibly the most terrible and riceriffic option any german automaker has ever offered in history.
I paid the extra money and ordered the illuminated star on my old 2015 C300 Sport 4Matic ($500 option), and I felt it looked kind of cool when I first took the delivery of the car...not too bright, and no more pretentious than the "Mercedes Benz" illuminated door sills or the Mercedes Benz LED projector lights that shine the logo on the ground when the doors are open.
I later felt the illuminated star was a waste of money because it would only come on when the headlights were on. It would have been more worth it if the star would come on when locking/unlocking the car too...and stay on for the amount of time the LED running lights would when the engine is turned off. I know I could have rewired the star to do this, but I only kept the car for a year...so I didn't bother.
Now my C450 has Distronic...so it's a moot point.
