C450 Exhaust vs C43 Exhaust

Hello,

I was just on the MB USA website, and built myself a C43. I noticed that there's an option for an AMG Performance Exhaust System. Does anybody know what the difference is? I've also seen a video with an exhaust buttton right below the volume button, does this act like a valuetronic?

Thanks!!!

I waited for that exact option before buying the C43 because at first I was getting a C450 in Spring 2016 sure glad I waited a little longer. Basically it opens it up to hear a way sportier exhaust sound. You always have the options to activate or deactivate manually since it turns on on certain modes like Sport+. Youtube C43 performance exhaust and youn will hear it.

C43 performance exhaust > C450 exhaust = C43 std exhaust

Neither do I...and exactly. I'm sure the switchable exhaust on the C43 is over-priced for what it is, and an aftermarket exhaust would sound even better.

too much upshift fart.

if you want to hear more exhaust just lower the rear seats lol

I've heard the standard c43 exhaust doesn't sound as good as the 450 (doesn't crackle, etc. - not sure if verified).

Exactamente'...............all while Mercedes-AMG counts its profits. See what they learned after giving away that insane V8 sound on the stock W204 C63 AMG?

I can hear Deiter Zetsche (Daimler AG Chairman) right now in a meeting:

Dammit Tobias!! (Moers....AMG bossmann) We could have charged those fools! OK; I know what we do. We get ze Americans and ze Canadians next time with ze 205. And we make 450 real AMG to get more money to make up for giveaway foolishness. Who is fool, now, Yankees and Frenchies?

The car in it's entirety is over-priced so what's one more over-priced little option lol. I test drove the C450 and loved it but since I was driving a nice Porsche Cayman S there was no rush to buy a new car when Mercedes decided to freakin change the model name again... so I love the C450, the C43 and probably the new model next year (I have a feeling the headlights will change).

For clarity... There are a couple threads on this topic.

I drove a C450 last year and loved it, but found it a little quiet. I did buy a C43 recently, so it could be opinion, but I spend $$$ on the difference I heard.

All the cars change sounds in Sport+ because it changes a multitude is settings in the car.

The C43 has some special stuff happening in Sport+ that effects the sound - which the C450 did not have.

"Partial cylinder suppression during gear changes by means of a momentary and precisely defined retardation of ignition and injection under full throttle allows for even faster gear changes, and is also audible to the driver. This is perfectly complemented by the emotive double-declutching function when downshifting."

By changing the transmission - it actually effects the sound. For the C43 - AMG changed the brakes, exhaust and transmission. So clearly the sound is different.

Where are you getting this information from - that the C43 has some "special stuff' happening? That quoted text also appears in the C450 literature, so I don't think it is anything different for the C43.

Also haven't seen anything about C43 brakes being different than the C450. The upgraded sport exhaust is different, yes, but stock exhaust is the same. Transmission, yes, they upgraded to the 9G.

Agreed. The 9G transmission and the upgraded sport exhaust are the only differences.

I changed my C450 quad exhaust pipes to the C63 OEM quad pipes and my service advisor who has the C450 said mine sounds different than his. I noticed a difference after I had them installed but I thought I was hearing things..lol. He said it sounds a lil louder. Maybe we both are hearing things..lol

I found out brakes were different because resellers of rims (I purchased aftermarket winter rims). I started by pulling up rims for the 450 and then called to confirm they would work as the C43 isn't listed on many sites yet. They contacted their rim vendors whom directed me to different rims than sold for the 450 due to brake clearance on the C43.

C450 in Sport+ is farty enough for me. I can't imagine C43 with sport exhaust will be fartier but welcome it.

I stopped in my Mercedes today and my SA said the brakes are the same.

Brake size and function are the same in the c450 and c43. The only difference is on the c450 it says mercedes-benz on the caliper, the c43 says AMG. I had a similar experience when I ordered H&R springs. None of the vendors have tested if the c450 springs fit the c43. So, i went ahead, took my chances and it fit.
