W205 (c450 specifically) rattles throughout cabin anyone?
i just bought my C450 - is it common there are small rattles thorughout the cabin interior? Do any of you have issues like this? I had a large rattle in the panoramic roof area that they had said was a lubrication issue (seems like it will come back)
Curious as to other owners of this platform and their experiences

Yep. Widespread issue with minor creaks/rattles in the cabin and dash. Packing seams where panels are creaking together with strips of black felt is the fix. The dealership should be able to address it for you if you don't want to bother with it.
The seam between the upper dash and the top of the gauge cluster, where the COMAND screen mounts to the dash, and along the underside of the metal "spear" that runs across are all culprits.

Mine rattles like you wouldn't believe. Rattles everywhere across the dash. Some come and go, while others there are for the long haul. I've never owned a car with so many rattles and am very disappointed with fit and finish. Drives me nuts, as I listen to them for close to 2hrs a day on my commute back and forth to work.
Last 4 cars were BMW's and let me tell ya....build quality (specifically fit and finish) is on a completely different level with BMW being far tighter and solid. My last car, a 2013 M3, which are known to be rattle buckets, was nowhere near this bad. Very disappointed.

Mine is making me nuts lately. Was quiet the first three months, now it is irritating all of a sudden. Especially since I dumped my BMW for the same thing.
Most annoying is the rear HVAC vents in the center console. They just perpetually rattle and the dealer has even removed them and put a new cluster in. Was quite for a month and now rattling again.
Don't even get me started on the creaking lately over uneven surfaces while turning.
EDIT: Not to mention that speaker hum that seems to move all over the f*****g car and NOBODY at the dealer ever seems to hear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The dealership took care of the rattles/creaks my C450 had around the panoramic roof, binnacle, and COMAND screen. Nice and quiet now.
I find it weird that the interior of my old 2015 C300 did not have these issues.

My C450 has suffered from numerous rattles almost from day 1. Gauge pod, drivers door, passenger seat, passenger door, center console, and recently heard the center speaker buzz. Been too busy to take it into the dealer, but plan to do so soon.
This car has many more rattles after 5 months than any 10 year old car I've owned. I am sure the 19's, run-flats, and crappy roads on my daily drive have not helped.
Still a great car though - brings a smile to my face every time I drive it.

Could anyone share strategic placements of felt strips?

Left hand side driver vent makes loud grinding clicking noises when actuated vents are change position. Only started after the dealer fixed the rattle under the dash above the dials.
My big issue is the rattles coming from the trunk area over uneven roads. Went away after last trip to dealer but back now and it sounds like something is not tied down. I can tap the rear deck spoiler on the left hand side and I can hear the rattle... just don't know when it is... maybe the spring on the hinge. Crazy... my old 2010 M3 was silent in comparison... well apart from the v8

My C300 has been totally free of any rattles since I got it in April, 2015. Now, at just over 17,000 miles, I have started to hear my first rattles. The rattles seem to be coming from the overhead area in the front, but I have not been able to isolate them yet. I have removed all loose items from the doors, console, and glove box, as well as a pair of sunglasses from the holder. I thought that was it, and heard no rattles for a day ... then they came back. It does seem to come and go.
I have poked and prodded, and can not find any spots that squeak or rattle when pressed. I'll keep at it until I can find the source. If all else fails, I can go to my dealer, but I know the car will be 100% rattle free when they road test it. It always seems to work that way.

I have been aware of annoying vibration noises apparently coming from behind the driver's (UK) side of dash when car's travelling over any uneven road surface. It sounds like its inside the cabin and only really became noticeable after a recent B Service by local MB garage. I've investigated under the bonnet and think its caused by the plastic apron fitted under the windscreen and note it happens to cover the brake reservoir, so now think its likely that the apron was disturbed during the service routine and was either not put back properly, or some noise suppression material was lost. Reading through the comments I see reference to 'creaking vents', I too get this ,particularly when the car's is started first thing. I've arranged for the car to go back in for MB to diagnose the source of noise. Strange how they never seem to have heard of the problems when you report the issues to them? They make you feel you're the only one ever to have noticed, when its obviously a common issue.

Success... I resolved the trunk rattle. 1. the cable that runs along the trunk hinge is also clipped on to the underside of the parcel shelf behind the trunk trim. This attachment was not connected to when the trunk was closed it pulled the cable up into the hole where the hinge goes. Difficult to explain.
I have now noticed that the rhs skid pan under the car can vibrate with an annoying rattle. The LHS does not. Will look into this today.

After 10 BMW's i'm very disappointed about this Mercedes. 'Das Beste oder nichts', what a laugh...
Because this car is my riding desk with 30k miles every year, and i'm completely focussed on these rattles, i'm thinking about selling this car.
I drove 2times the new E-class, and it's free of rattles, so the E43 AMG is one of the possibilities, maybe as coupé, but i'm also thinking about the new M550i.

The E is screwed and glued together the same way the C is. My guess is that by 3000 miles it'll start rattling too. In fact I was watching an online review of the new E and the center dash speaker grille was rattling on the demo drive. The reviewer presumed it was an early production bug but I'm not so sure.

I agree that that the vibration noise does vary and is not consistent, but I'm assuming that's down changing to road surface conditions and speed, affecting level of noise and resonance.

The most annoying rattle I have is from the Comand screen. The silver bezel on top is loose, and rattles against the glass of the screen. Constantly, especially in warmer weather, I guess cause the plastic expands a little more
