Does anyone know what this is above the star on my 16 C300? I've looked at several other 16 C300's and have not seen one on any other.

I have the P2 package, sport package, blind spot, LED headlights. I don't have the distronic.

It is the mount for the camera if you have the 360 camera package. You do not so they just have a piece of plastic where the lens would go.

It is part of collision avoidance system.

I thought the collision avoidance was standard on every 16 C300. How come some cars have it and some don't?

collision avoidance is standard on all w205s. that is not part of the system. here is a mb with the camera

Ok. Now I'm even more confused. I don't have the 360 camera so why would that even be there. Still doesn't explain why some C300's have this and some don't. If it's part of the collision avoidance, then it should be on every C300, right?

Cost cutting by mb. That piece is useless on your car since there is no camera. Its like how some cars that come in a single or dual exhaust configuration but the bumper still has the cut out for the other exhaust tip even though it only has one (ie honda accord v6 vs 4 cyl)

The collision avoidance sensor is placed behind the bumper, not in the grille

It seems like your car may be "pre-wired" for the 360 camera functionality. It's possible that with the P2 package cars it's got some extra portion of the system there but not fully installed and perhaps the P1's don't have it at all. Just a thought, I have no evidence to back this up.

Interesting. My thought was that this was only on cars with the illuminated star (at least that's what I've noticed as my '15 C300 doesn't have it and does not have 360, but all the loaners I've had with illuminated stars do have it, without having 360).

Hi my 2017 C300 sport sedan has the illuminated star and the spot for the camera but does not have 360. I have sports package and premium package 3 on my car.

So I have a 2016 C300 with the sport package with the P2 package (same as you) and I have this on top of my star but you dont..............see, I dont understand why. There has got to be a logical explanation as to why I have it and you dont. My build date is 5/16, whats yours?

I don't have the distronic or 360 camera package , but i do have this weird rubber thing above my star. Hadn't noticed it until i have seen this thread and now i can't un-notice it :|

How many cameras make up the 360 degree camera package? where are they all located?

Factory ran out of regular grills. Used a grill for a car that ordinarily has a camera and plugged where the camera goes?

Sounds as logical as any other hypothesis at this point. I don't have one on my 2016 (no 360 camera option).

4 in total. Front and rear of the car, and one under each of the side mirrors (you can see a little bubble at the bottom of the sideview mirrors if it has the 360 camera).

I have a 2015 sport c300 with P2 and have this on top of my star. Think mine may have been a June build. I was just thinking about maybe retrofitting both a front and rear camera would be nice since it has a built in space for the front. My build didn't come with a rear camera. Anyone figured out what it is or why we have these.
