And some thought Angus MacKenzie (Motor Trend) was out of his mind for saying that during a Car-of-the-Year comparison a year or 2 ago.
Now it's confirmed. We don't need no stinkin' 3-series.....it done gone mainstream and now it can't even out-handle a C-Class LUXURY car. The Ultimate Driving Machine. Dead.

Those Ms/AMGs, my friend, are "ultimate driving machines" that are "driving performance". To wit, call me a dumbass, but I traded my wild frickin '09 C63 for the 450......sucker kept trying to kill me and the wife.
In fact, just last night I was browsing through an old C&D from Spring 2015 (April?) - the first M2 drive of a Euro spec'd one.....and I thought (as always), that I'd LOVE to have one of those. Same price point of the C450/43. And I don't even mind BMW interiors, being the glorified trailer trash that I am. To me? That sh-- is nice!!
Hell, I even like the refreshed 340i xDrive M-sport. (Can I say that here? Uh-oh.)
But anyway, point well taken.

Car for the common man comes to mind. One of the reasons I stayed clear of the BMW 3 series in the UK is that there are more 3 series on the road than the Ford Mondeo/Fusion
