Anyone running a boost gauge?
Having no luck in the AMG forum. I bet there's at least 1 turbo 4 banger guy around here that has mounted a gauge, right?
I'm wanting to run a boost gauge as I feel they are imperative to a car with FI to keep an eye on things and make sure that everything is in order. Especially if you are running any type of aftermarket software. And I DO NOT think the stock "boost gauge" is at all sufficient in this regard.
I know what one I want, and I can figure out how to install it, I just don't know where to mount it as I haven't seen ANY companies offering an option for the w205. I've seen the option (pictured below) the CLA guys have for placing it in one of the air vents; I think this is ideal as the circular vents are just begging for a gauge.
Do you guys have any thoughts? Anyone fab'd up something of their own? Do you think the CLA one would fit in our vents (anyone with a CLA want to measure their one of their vents for us?)?
I really prefer an analog gauge, but another option I'm contemplating is to run a small digital gauge (the kind that is about the size/shape of a USB jump drive) and just velcro'ing it somewhere ideal on the dash.
I dunno... What are your guys' thoughts?

Not for me. Prefer to keep my eyes on the road than worry about stock boost levels on a modern car that would go into limp mode as soon as there is a sniff of an issue.

Have you looked into an OBD II scanner and reader? A lot of these systems now tap into the OEM sensors to read stuff like fuel, boost, air mixtures, etc. I'm not sure if MB outputs boost telemetry though or not. May be something to consider or look further into.

Sean, i'm in a CLA loaner currently and I believe they're the same size by eye-balling it. I'll measure this afternoon before I return the loaner. I think that's a great location to put one if you wanted it. There's plenty of ways to route wires underneath that console cover and it's easy to get off.

Air/Fuel mixture would be more important but isn't as cool to look at. Boost, is just kind of cool to watch.
Even cooler is the Veyron Power gauge:

^AFR would be nice but with the barro, MAP, etc sensors, the motor will not run an un-ideal AFR. It would instantly go into limp if it did. So that is not something to worry about on stock ECU, tuned or not.
I'm coming from running a 1.8l 4 cylinder with 26lbs of boost daily... TRUST ME, monitoring boost has many, many advantages.
Well I'm not after boring people with their stock cars, now am I?
Thank you! I want to say they are similar enough as well (especially considering manufacturers like to reuse molds as many times as possible to cut costs). If you can get me a measurement, I would be very grateful

I agree with this too. Boost doesn't really tell you much. If there's a significant lack of power, then boost is probably down.

Come on guys! We're talking BOOST GAUGES here. Not BS power gauges. Let's get back on topic
Plus, you guys know that our cars have a power/tq gauge as well, right?

My understanding was its only if you have COMAND. Not on the Audio 20/Non-COMAND systems. I'll check for it tomorrow on our 2017 C300 Coupe with the non-COMAND.
