2017 C300
Cool Brand New 2017 C300- Drive Belt already snapped out of place after only 500 Miles!!

So as I was driving my brand new 2017 C300, the drive belt slid off that lit off a bunch of warning lights, telling me to stop the car and have it towed to the shop. After only 500 miles, 500 miles! This is so un-Mercedes like in terms of reliability and durability. Considering that I will be driving roughly 3000 miles a month, I already lost faith on this car and how far it will drive me. I tried to get a full refund of the sale from the dealer but they cannot because of California's lemon law stating that it has to be recurrent for them to grant the refund. My question is, what can I do to get something from the dealer? They only offered to give my car a full service detail worth $250!! That is just a slap in the face for a product that under-performed and way below the standard of Mercedes. Any advise will definitely be helpful. Thank you

Keep taking the belt off. When they put it back on.

Aka re-occurring.

Just kidding......

A minor happening with no lasting damage . You have whipped yourself into a state of panic & are acting irrationally.

It is a great car you have chosen & will give many years of service if it is driven with care & serviced correctly.

.Make sure the dealer informs you in detail of why the belt came off . Was it not fitted correctly, a failure of the belt or are the pulleys not aligned correctly?

Take a deep breath & enjoy your new ride. There are always teething problems with any new vehicle . That is why there is such a thing as warranty. You have just experienced an unusual one .

Keep us informed on how it all goes.

Yea, make sure to ask them why the belt came off. And have them replace the pulleys, tensioner and belt to be safe that it does not happen again.

The real question is why this is in the W204 section. You have a W205.

It's a downer but the dealer owes you nothing beyond the tow and the warranty repair. That was actually really nice of them to give you the free detail. There is no law that compensates people for being disappointed or not having their expectations met. If it continues to happen that's another story.

Ask Trump to tweet about it. That will help fan your flames of frenzy.

Thanks. I'm most proud of the misspelling of "break" and exaggerating the mileage.

Nice catch! Because of the speech thing... The main thing here though is that I think we're being really helpful to the OP. That's key.

I am very interested in hearing the conclusion of this issue. A drive belt huh... Did they change from the original design from the w204? Never ever heard of this issue ever.

Please post a service repair sheet. I am very much hoping to see what they wrote was needed and the labor itemization
