retrofit apple carplay or android auto in class?
Hi, all.
i was wondering if one can retrofit carplay or android auto into 2016 and on C class.
I saw the carplay trailer mercedes debuted back when w205s were introduced, but never heard any updates since then.
have any of you guys installed those softwares?

It also gives you Siri ability from the steering wheel and a number of other random things for the base model cars and older models that don't have the typical iPod integration or COMAND stuff. I've never seen it in action, but my dealer said they have a company they refer people to that is a Mercedes Partner authorized to install the kit.

Yeah I remember looking into it for the W221 S Class. $600 for the kit and $400 for installation. But the one thing I needed it to do...to add IPhone connectivity to a pre facelift 221, it couldn't do.

If you are still interested in this, there are aftermarket options available. Mercedes will most likely never offer an upgrade for the 2015-2017 models. They are more likely to move you towards "buying a new car" before they offer that. Aftermarket options here:
There is a wireless version of the CarPlay AND (wired) Android Auto version available now. I tried it and it works well! No need to plug in your lightning cable anymore. There's an ebay auction here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/303121978375 , however you can message the seller directly for a discounted price (no ebay fees): djfrestyler@aol.com. Include you VIN number for exact pricing. Price is ~$500-$600, depending on your Screen option
SardinCar has a newer cabled version (also CarPlay and Android Auto) available which works 10x better than the old version too. A friend has that in his C-Class and that also works great! It's a bit cheaper than the wireless version ~$425. You can message a US reseller for that version at sardincarusa@gmail.com
