I am not performance "impressed," I found the improvement mild.

I think the most accurate statement, noted by another, is that C and 3 pounds of boost make the car more of a pleasure to drive, all subjective of course.

Had the crackle not come back to acceptable levels, it would be yanked.

I'm going to leave it in until I can hopefully find some 93 to try.

Otherwise, it goes to my wife's car.

Ah, understood. So that's what I'm going to try to decipher as more people receive their units and provide feedback. If the improvement is mild, then losing any exhaust crackle isn't worth it to me.

Exactly.

Over 60 miles, enough "returned" to make it worthwhile.

For me, and likely others, the greatest relative improvement is in C, with 3 or 4 pounds, as S+, with no boost, is already exciting.

For many, this makes it a real bargain, and enough.

Now, if the objective data shows at or near 40 hp, that resolves the doubt for me.

Its not a tune, or a stand alone ECU, its just a piggyback. It tricks the sensors into allowing hitting the ceiling all the time.

What ceiling?

If there is no engineering reserve left, I've got to reconsider....

The highest the stock ECU will let boost, fuel, and air go. Take a look at the dyno pulls on a piggyback compared to a full tune.

http://c450amg.com/product-review/oetuning

I can't embed the image but take a look at the power curve on the stock line and the VR piggyback, then see how the curve does not follow the same pattern as on the OETune. The peak HP is actually pretty similar on the VR and the OE, but look how much sooner the OE tune gets there. Also, take a look at the torque curve and notice how it jumps really early in the revs and does not follow the same curve as the stock run.
Think about a piggyback like an overboost function. The car should run like it does from the factory, but faster.
FYI I am only an armchair engineer.

Well, if you are right, and I hope you are, it implies Mercedes' engineering standards/reserves are intact, a good thing!

The app is kind of glitchy and annoying, but that doesn't really matter to me. I set it to race mode and i have no reason to ever open the app again.

I'll take the car to raceway park soon to verify gains, but based upon feel I expect a good 4-5 tenths. Worth every penny.

awesome, glad you like it!. I love mine!

I just installed take me 10-15 minutes a little problem with my big hands .
I test the car in race mode a fee times 0-100-0
1.- The problem with the app its poor signal on the Bluetooth , disconnected easy , lost signal.
2.- I dont believe in +4 lbs of boost , more realistic +2 lbs (equal 0.2 sec)
3.- everything else is the same
For me is not even worth ed

Read above: it apparently does not learn.

For folks considering this tune, forget the top end, it simply makes the car drive better in C.

Read the product description. As a tune for the masses, it is implied to be mild.

Me, too. But, I'm so old I fart dust.

In my view, other than the app, we got a mildly effective, quality product that makes the car a greater joy to drive, for peanuts.

Well, I guess for you my original review was accurate: a sore butt on the butt dyno scale.

I think it's going to split between those with high and those with moderate expectations. I'm still interested in the objective data.
