When you see it in quotes it's usually bad. Like when your wife tells you your mother in law is coming for a "visit".

I've already placed my order with Dinan last week, but personally it's more important to me for you guys to get it right rather than rushing the chip out the door just to appease the impatient ones out there.

Take your time...and get it right.

Unit wasn't receiving power. Was hand built and bench tested before going out but apparently something got dislodged somewhere along the line in the wiring. Once we get the old one back we will be able to see what exactly went awry with it but loose wiring seems to be the most likely cause. New one has been installed and appears to be fine though. I will let him comment on power/drivability in his limited experience with the unit thus far.

I am not aware of the processes in MB land so I will answer the dealership question like I would on the BMW front.... No tune is undetectable. However, the amount of effort to find traces of a tune is where the differentiation lies. With the piggyback approach if it is removed there is no way for a dealership to detect it has been there with their available tools. That said if something catastrophic were to happen and an engine or transmission destroyed chances are a factory team would come in to diagnose the issue (PUMA on the BMW side). These individuals have factory tools that could delve deeply into the electronics and find inconsistencies that would indicate a tune was present. Its all spurned on by a large warranty claim though and the chances of it getting to that point are minimal.

While the SPORT tune is safe its whole purpose is to be a commodity item that is attractive to the masses. At a $300 price point it simply isnt possible to extend a factory matching warranty. It ultimately comes down to our matching warranty coverage that include parts and labor and simple economics. A a single minor claim for any number of random small things could be a $300 bill just in labor at a dealership and erase any possible profits instantly.
Thanks.

Makes sense. Hand built prototypes are usually much more fragile than production models. And it doesn't help when the UPS guys are playing football with the packages off of the dock

Hi guys, I'm the test C43.

I installed the second unit last night, everything went smoothly. The sensor location isn't hard to get to, I found it easiest to use a flathead screwdriver to pop the stock white clip which holds the connection in place.

Once the instructions/unit is released, I would recommend taking a look at the wrong connector they have ID (want to take a guess who installed it at the wrong connector?) to get familiar with the stock white clip that holds the connector locked.

The rest of the installation is pretty straight forward. I'll relocate the unit location to the recommended place probably this weekend.

In terms of the unit itself, the App located it right away. I've only driven it in Sport + (3PSI), haven't tried out the Race version (4PSI) yet. The car definitely feels more responsive.

My wife's car (C43 Coupe, I have the C43 Sedan) is coming in on the 20th. My plan is to switch cars for a day and see if we can spot the difference.

Feel free to ask questions.

The factory connectors have a little white clip that locks them into place. The easiest way to get the white clip to slide back and release the connector is with a flat head screwdriver.

The location of the sensor you have to install the Dinan unit is in a spot that's not very easy to see. There's similar connector, which Dinan has clearly labeled as the connector not to use in their instruction manual, near the top of the engine that's easy to see. I think would be beneficial for people to take a look at it so they can see how the white clip works.

At this point, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Once you get the unit and get to installing it, it will make a lot more sense.

The crackle is still there, however, the crackle on my car has always seemed pretty quiet.

nothing like the AMG PE exhaust on the car I test drove on which the crackles were just violent

Just noticed the dyno states 93 octane but the run was in Sport +, 3 PSI.

Is that just old data or was it in spot + and there's even more on race mode?

Someone or Dinan needs to dyno a c450/c43, its the only thing holding me back from placing an order.
