How quiet are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires?

I am tired of my continental RF and am considering replacing them with Pilot Sport (225/50R17) A/S 3 tires. I have read several reviews on Tire Rack and Michelin's own website complaining about how noisy the tires are. I know they are a popular replacement tire for the W205 and curious if noise is an issue for our cars. Thanks in advance.

In the same situation myself, never thought that I would want to have my tyres wear out quickly so that I could replace them. I have heard that the Michelins are quieter than the conti runflats but no personal experience, I am more interested in quiet running than high speed road holding as speed limits here are 110 kph max

Unless you absolutely need an all season tire, I think the gold standard for ride and noise on a 205 are the Michelin Pilot SuperSports. Everyone on the forum who has them seems to love them. I've yet to see negative feedback.

My S Class ate up MPSS rears every 9,000 miles due to weight but I've had them on the 205 almost a year and they're only at 8/32.

I haven't noticed any excessive road noise from the the AS3+.

If I lived in a climate that was seasonable year round, I'd go with MPSS.

Since I have "old man" wheels (17"), SS's are not available for that size, at least according to michelin.com.

Got as3s on the beater TSX. That's a loud car so can't tell. On the beemer decided to try bfgoodrich sportcomp 2 a/s. So far so good. Only slightly cheaper than michelens. Probably could of done summer tires. Next change I will.

2013 C350 4matic coupe
I have the Pilot Sport AS3 on my 2013 C350 4matic coupe. I dont know what people are talking about, they're quiet to me. They have so much dry grip for an all season, and the steering response is so quick.

Have a look at this vid showcasing the pilot sport as3

Car free at the moment
I had Michelin PSS and then AS3 on one of my w211 AMG cars. There was no difference in cabin noise or ride comfort between the two. As you would expect, the trade off was better dry weather traction from the PSS but better cold weather and foul weather traction from the AS3.

The one odd thing about the AS3 is when driving with the windows down, they make a 'sizzle' noise, kind of like bacon frying in a pan. I understand this is common with the high silica tread compounds in newer all season performance tires. It can't be heard inside the car, but reflects back from the curb if, for example, you drive through the neighborhood with the windows down.

If you want a really quiet tire, you might be better served by one of Michelins touring tires.

I am going to get a set of AS3+ this week. I think there is a trade off when you go with an all season vs a summer tread, but all season is what I need here in CO. Tire Rack has 77 reviews of the AS3+ and the noise score is 8.8 of 10. I have read a few bad reviews complaining of noise with this tire, but I am confident that there will be a great improvement in ride quality and noise vs the OE run flats. Can't wait!

I have AS3+ and I love it.

I have two questions to those who own AS3+

1. What PSI are you guys running? I have 39 in the front and 45 in the back but I think these PSIs are designed for run-flats. Any thoughts?

2. What do you do when you have flats?

If I lived in CO, I'd skip the AS and go with a set of dedicated winter tires for winter and summer for summer. All season tires are good for very light snow at best and are not a good choice for snowy climates.

Agreed. I drove on packed snow and packed slush with the AS3's and they did not inspired any confidence. I think the 4matic system was saving my butt.

If you want good snow performance from all all season, I drove in blizzard conditions in my 2016 Mazda CX5 running Falken G4 Pro's (same tire as the Falken Ziex 950 and Sumitomo HTR AS P02), and it dominated. I also had a 2005 Mazda 6 with Continental ExtremeContact DWS, and those worked well in snow.
