Is CarPlay for sure in 2018?

Is there any official evidence that CarPlay will be offered in 2018?

They said the same thing about the 2015s so I wouldn't trust them until you see it in person

Ok, here is another video. Besides Apple car play and Android Auto, also the new 9-speed transmission and lot's of other stuff. Looks like 2018 C will have major updates. And MBUSA finally pulled the plug on Luxury package...

Just another rumor site. I don't know how much credibility I'd give it.

My lease is over soon on my C, so I checked with my dealer today and he confirmed that all the info in that video is 100% accurate. Furthermore, he said that he can order 2018 C-Class as we speak! As they are already scheduled for a production... unless I want to get an advantage of pricing on the remaining 2017 models.

However he also said that the 1st batch of 2018's will not have smartphone integration, and if i want it I need to place order around June... which I'm OK because I still have enough time... he also said that he thinks: if I order smartphone integration pack, you can't combine with Multimedia pack... which I'm ok too because it will save me some money...

That part is still unclear he said as of today, it looks like smartphone pack and multimedia pack will cancel each other. But he will know when the actual package will be available for the ordering. Which is around June.

I know other MB models you can get both Command and smartphone integration, so it may change.

But personally I don't care for MB Navi and Voice control. Because if you get phone integration, why would you need it anyway? I have google maps and voice control "Ok Google" or Siri if you have iphone... So I can actually save money by not paying for Multimedia pack...

It's possible the smartphone pack also encompasses what's now known as the multimedia pack, which would explain why they're mutually exclusive in the order guide.

Apple CarPlay/Android Auto confirmed in Smartphone Integration Package for model year 2018. Not compatible with COMAND -- no CarPlay with Multimedia Package. CarPlay available without Multimedia Package.

The pricing will sort it out. I'd be shocked if they bundled a premium add on feature exclusively with the entry level media package. Anybody have pricing?

There is nothing premium about multimedia pack. It's just Navi and Voice control. If you use your phone - you wouldn't need either. Actually you would get more powerful voice control with search capability etc... Plus all your info stays with your phone like Contacts, addresses, phone numbers, text messages, music - so you don't have to deal with the car savings any of your information... and then trying to move all that info into another car.

You need the MM to get the full-sized screen. That little dinky screen wth the 2" thick plastic bezel and Playschool graphics is a deal breaker. CarPlay is fine but it's not worth staring at that little monstrosity for three years.

Gotta have the big boy screen. That's why it's a $2800 premium package. Everything else in the package is frosting.

Ha-ha-ha "little monstrosity". It's only 1" smaller: 7" vs. 8". Doesn't make any difference to me. Graphics are exactly the same on both... no difference in quality.

"Playschool graphics" you are probably referring to Garmin Navi, whic is a little behind in graphics department, I agree. But if I get Android Auto - it has it's own graphics -Google Maps, so no need for Garmin...

It's weird, I agree, but despite being just an inch smaller it looks so much cheaper and out of place that it kills the cabin vibe. I think it's the big plastic bezel, which is what a lot of the Asian car companies do to make their small screens look more imposing. Never works. And then MB puts it front and center as the focal point of the interior.

Personally, I couldn't do it, no matter how much cheaper it was. There really is nothing special about COMAND itself but it's the only way to get the full size screen.

Yes, it looks like the car has to be produced after September, so I have to place an order around August. Will need to extend my current lease for a few months..

So will the smartphone integration package (this is a pic from the 2018 GLC dealer ordering guide) mean I can finally get carplay/AA on my W205 with Audio20? Any reason why ordering this when it comes out and having it installed wouldn't work?
