Today's poor build quality discovery is when unloading the car I noticed the pano roof was wonky when retracted. Checked it with a measure and when retracted it was nearly 1cm higher on the passenger side than the drivers.

thankfully it's just a torx screw adjustment so I loosened it, adjusted the hinge and tightened it back up.

Pano roof is level both when retracted and closed now.

tolerances MB? Heard of those? Quality control? New concept eh?

Man, you guys are tough on each other.. and the 205. I bought my son a 2008 W204 (C350) as a first car... it has over 120K miles on it, and still runs like a top, doesn't leak a drop of oil, and it will beat my wife's E350 any day in a race. No squeaks, pleather is in good shape, the only "issue" is the black paint wearing off of the window and a/c buttons. I guess maybe they really did build a better car way back when....

I don't think there's an option for just sensors, but if you get the Surround View System (it was part of the Parking Assist Package on mine), that includes rear sensors along with the 360 camera. It's nicely done -- there's a small display with the sensor bars attached to the headliner at the back of the car so you see it when you look in the rearview mirror.

I would really like to have a front parking sensor even if its just an audible tone. That front air dam and chrome strip is in a precarious position for cement parking lot curbs.

Yep, this is exactly why I back into spots that have a high curb or a parking block. Much more clearance in the rear and the camera lets you know where you're at

If I do pull in forwards, I usually stop about a foot short cause I ain't taking the chance of hitting that splitter.

Yes, they did. And as every securities prospectus is forced to warn customers, "Past performance is no guarantee of future performance." This is especially true of Mercedes cars. They no longer have any brand reputation for quality and reliability. (If they ever did- see back issues of Consumer Reports.) The 2015 C-class had terrible first-year problems. (My 2015 C300 had most of the typical defects. My previous 2007 C280 W203 had "The dreaded M272 Balance Shaft" pinion gear problem. I didn't know that my car was part of the class action suit, until I had already agreed to trade it in. Some poor ******* is going to have a $3500-$5000 repair bill.)

According to MBWorld, reports, the 2017 E-class is having equally bad first-year problems. So tell your son to hang on to his W204. See the MBWorld article from only last month, "7 Solid Reasons to Hold onto Your W204," by Clint Simone, April 27, 2017.

I 'd like to add one thing, the thigh support in the rear seats are not good enough. Seats are short if you know what I mean. The Audi A4 rear seats are better. Other than that, I love my new C.

I've said this in another thread when a backseat annoyance was brought up, but why does anyone care about what goes on in the backseat? Like, I don't care if there are 2 milk crates back there to sit on, I bought this car for the drivers seat so that is the only one I care about

I bought this luxury sedan because at times I have to transport my elderly parents in back. I would expect a luxury sedan to have comfortable rear seats with at least some luxury features back there.

As gfmohn mentioned it before me, you can link the left and right temperature with the SYNC button.
As for keeping the interior warm you press the AC/REST button (if you have AC/REST) after switching the engine off before opening the door.

Although I've certainly had my own share of issues with this car ... and had my first C300 replaced under trade assist ... I would still say it is a good car. Both my wife and I find it comfortable, attractive, and a pleasure to drive. My current C300 has been much better than my first nightmare of a car, and has turned out to be relatively trouble free. No squeaks, no rattles, and very few unscheduled trips to my dealer.

It can be better, and should be. Given its price, it should include more of the features that are currently optional. It should offer some features that currently aren't even available. Build quality, while getting better, is still far from best in class. It could be quieter. In spite of its shortcomings, and all cars have their own set of these, it is a good car and holds up well to its Audi and BMW competition.

In my case, I am lucky to have a very competent and caring dealer. Without that level of dealer support, my opinion might be very different.

Excellent point Stan. I too am fortunate to have an awesome dealership close by to where I live...who ALWAYS treats me like a king!

As a matter of fact I just dropped off my car this morning to have the NAV maps updated (hopefully COMAND too) and to have some protectant film applied to my new AMG side sills. Got some chocolate covered "Mercedes" Oreo cookies as well from the espresso bar.

Oh and my free loaner...a new 2017 E300 with "active" side bolsters!

Good for you! Although if there were actually milk crates back there, you would be complaining they weren't made out of high quality wood.

The Surround View System does include front sensors too (the detection bars show up in the screen on the instrument console). I find them to be a little slow to react, but overall they're ok. I end up using the camera more than the sensor. It seems odd to me the MB would only include these sensors with the Surround View System, and not as a standard feature. Guess they figure they'll sell fewer Parking Assist packages if they included the sensors as standard.

In the UK; My car has both front and rear sensors/self parking. I don't have the 360 camera, I wanted it, but there was too much of a production delay.

Perhaps you shouldn't have gone with the 2nd SMALLEST sedan that MB offers?

I'm two hours from my dealer, but they always will pick up, and return, my car at my house for service. The last loaner they left me was a 2017 C300 coupe with 600 miles on the odometer. When I am there, I have to make do with fresh ground coffee and fresh cookies and pastries. No MB branded Oreo cookies though! Maybe I should complain.
