Thanks so much for the intriguing discussion. This is not my first lease, and i'm quite familiar with how things work when it's close to the end.

I have two leases right now, a Nissan Rogue that i treat like it belongs to someone else. I won't spend a dollar on it. Can't wait for that lease to be over though the audio on it puts the Merc's to shame.

Then I have the 300 Coupe, 5 weeks in , this is my car and decisions I make including the one to lease it in the first place are not governed by practicality. I know I will personalize it to my pocket's limit (within reason) knowing full well the conditions of the return. $3000? maybe not but will see, it seems like a progressive improvement project.

I'm feeling bold enough to attempt phase 1 myself, i.e. replace the stock front speakers with coaxials if it's just a matter of unplugging and reattaching the cables. It wont happen tomorrow, or next week but that seems like a plan i want to think over.

I've spoken to 4 Audio shops in my neighborhood. Each owner came across as very experienced yet none has worked on a 2017 C300 Coupe before.

The quotes i'm getting for the 4" coaxials is CA$440 + tax from one and CA$480 + tax from another. Both are suggesting the Audison Prima APX4. Neither of them have the speakers in stock so I cannot listen to them.

The third shop is suggesting Focal performance 100AC and total $400 + tax.

The 4th shop (best rating among all) is suggesting I drive in so they can hear and then suggest me a setup. Which will probably be above my budget but I will still go and check out what they have to say.

There seems to be labour involved in switching out the 4 screw bracket/mount and fabricating a 3 screw mount. I guess because of this reason alone I will not be able to switch out the speakers myself.

If anyone has any thoughts or alternate experience, please share.

Sorry to revive this thread. I have 2015 C300 sedan in GTA. I went today to Visions upgrading door speakers. with Hertz ECX 100.5 4" coaxial but installer couldn't fit them. The stock speakers are too shallow, there is not much space to put any speaker bigger than stock. Installer tried back and front doors and both have same issue. He also searched other speakers but all of them had similar depth like 1.7" and bigger diameter magnet. The stock has a tiny magnet with mounting depth of 1.49". So to the gentlemen who upgraded to Hertz 1004 or anyone else who upgraded the speakers. How they fit the speakers? Did installer cut the inside door body? or can someone please recommend an installer in GTA who has upgraded this car.

The only speakers that can fit are Focal 100KRS 2. I happen to be selling my car soon. I can sell you those if you're interested.
