Restore matte leather look on steering wheel
Hello, recently the top part of my steering wheel has gotten a very glossy look while the bottom part of the steering wheel has the original matte leather look. I use the top part of the steering wheel a lot while I hardly ever touch the bottom part. I'm assuming it's an accumulation of dirt, oils, and other stuff that's made it glossy. Does someone know a fix to this and how to get it back to the original matte look and feel.

Try Magic Eraser. It will restore it to matte leather condition in no time. You'd be surprised how good it looks afterwards.

just use a good leather cleaner. Don't use a leather cream/feed/conditioner as this will make it shiny, once it's cleaned gently with a proper small leather natural bristled brush, use a leather sealant which will make it matte and protect it from further soiling.

But aren't you afraid the 3M tape is going to damage the leather underneath????

Leather on steering wheel is probably not coated (or if it wsa, the coating got worn away,) thus its pores are getting filled with dirt. After you follow many of the good suggestions to clean out the pores restore to original condition, would recommend routine cleaning every so often with a mild cleaner (eg, Lexol.)

I have only used the Swissvax one in the past. It works well but you must thoroughly clean the leather before applying. My sense is the swissvax one applies a matte coating, while the other one removes the grease that made it glossy. Different approaches.
