Closing in on deal for '15 C300. Wrist Pin issues?

If you have play in the wristpin, you will have elongation of the hole in the rod or piston, as both are softer material than the pin itself. The remedy replaces ALL of those parts, so you start over with everything new. Any component that could have possibly been damaged when there was noise (what you're hearing is the pin bouncing from one side of the hole to the other due to the excessive clearance until it warms up) comes out and goes in the trash, so you get all new parts.
A properly done repair (contingent on the quality of the tech, sadly) will have no negative effects. You get new bearings and rings too, so the engine should be closer to new than it was before for sure.

I think it's in the big thread but i'll link it here tomorrow or Saturday when I have a chance at work. I did that in the 166 forum for the a/c odor LI that is quite common.
On the bright side, it seems like a large portion of the C300s that had this pin issue, have already been fixed. For a while we were doing them fairly often, I think I did the last one we've done at my shop and it was a while ago, haven't seen once since.

Is there any indication of how many cars were affected by this issue? My 2015 has 25,000 miles on it now, and I have never heard any unusual noises ... just the normal chatter that these turbo fours always make. I have asked my dealer to check for the wrist pin issue a couple of times when the car was in for service, and they heard nothing unusual. I have a seven year warranty, so it's nothing I'm stressing over, but I am curious about how common the wrist pin issue really is.
By this point, most of them that had a problem have already been fixed. Even if it showed up later on, which is unlikely, as the noisy engines were noisy from very early on, any reasonable dealer would goodwill cover it if you had been there for services and such.

Also, in regard to the OP, it appears your engine serial is a couple numbers after the bulletin, so you should already have the known good parts. Nothing to worry about.

I'm sure Mercedes knows, but all they give us is the ending point of engine serial #s, since they were built at two plants I don't know how they calculate from there. I'd assume it's probably in the range of 100K engines that could possibly be affected, but the actual amount that have any noise is very small, just a few percent of those if I had to guess.

Make sure you buy some extra wrist pins to keep them as spares because I hear the 4 cylinder likes to shoot them through the hood

Congrats
Sweet gig, wheels esp. look great.
I've got a '15 too, and 7,000 miles later, I'm still happy every time I drive it (even tho I did have the wrist pin issue to deal with).
One tip if you haven't noticed yet: with your build date, in Sport+ mode on a quick start, you should get the throaty sports car "pops" between the lower gears. That was removed from the C300 later in the year to reserve for the c400/450. If you've got it, enjoy it. Regardless, enjoy the new ride.

Wrist Pin Concern
Just picked my vehicle up from dealer who state they could not hear noise but I disagree. Purchased vehicle as CPO 4 months ago and based on what I've read and videos watched I'm confident of wrist pin issue. How should O proceed?
Thanks....Marvin

UPDATE:
My car does have the wrist pin issue, even with its late april engine production date! It is currently at the dealer getting the repair done. My service advisor said that "most" 2015s were affected regardless of engine production date
Bright side: I have a fully loaded 2019 C to check out until the repair is complete

Wrist Pin
Thanks,
I'm still concerned and plan to try another dealer. I primarily hear the loud ticking on cold days pretty much the entire time driving. Vehicle was looked at by dealer a week ago Who said it was low on oil.

Mine was really loud. Even at low speeds.
My advisor brought out a technician before he even heard the car and based on the description he was like "yeah, we've done a lot of these so let's check yours in for the repair"

Update!
It will be 3 weeks on Tuesday since it's been at the dealer for the wrist pins. I asked what the hold up was and they said they're still trying to receive clearance from MBUSA to proceed with warranty coverage for the repair. Sounds a little weird, but whatever.
This past Monday, I was involved in an accident in the loaner vehicle (2019 w205 with 500 miles on odo). Someone swerved into my lane and slammed on the brakes, causing me to rear end them. Good news, the other driver admitted to it and received a ticket. Dealer immediately swapped out the loaners and made the whole thing painless.
The 2019 refresh is very nice! The doors are heavier and more solid, similar to an ML or GLE! The updated engine sounds so much better than the diesel sounding M274, the infotainment is pretty good as well. Just feels like an overall better version of an already nice car.

Any piston cracked in USA ? It's a hot topic in Taiwan, I saw few cases in FB forum, but I am not sure it's special or common case ? They said it's 2015 C300 M274 piston defect. Photo from : https://bit.ly/2TCts31

Cracked pistons always happens on #1 cyl, front side. It's a pre-ignition issue due to poor fuel quality, it happens in the US when people don't run premium fuel. I've replaced a couple sets for that issue as well. Engineering knows about it, but they won't cut the power down and you can't force people to run good gas so it is what it is.
