question about prepaid maintenance

i just went to dealer for my 40,000 miles Service B.
the service adviser said this is my last prepaid maintenance. i used 4 of 4 ppm.
but when i check Mercedes Me app. it showing Active through 139,999 miles ?
he said i can use those 4 ppm maintenance up to 139,999 miles? or i can keep using prepaid maintenance til 139,999 miles?

@netboy , I have just had the exact same experience. Did you find out any additional information? Is it 139,999 miles or only 4 PPM ?!

I just joined MBworld, specifically to ask you this question, lol. It is 100% the exact situation I am in.

If you paid for 4 and used 4, you’re done. You can try as buy another package or start paying for the individual services. If they gave free maintenance for 139,999 miles they would sell a lot more cars lol

my service advisor said i can use 4 times up to 139,999 miles. Too bad i asked him when i'm at the last ppm at 40,000 mile. If i have known, i would just use the ppm on service B only, that's the more expensive one.

Please - let me clarify - you can "purchase" Pre-Paid at any mileage up thru 139K miles.

However, once you purchase Pre-Paid Maintenance - you need to use the next segment no later than 12,500 miles or 14 months (whichever is later) from the previous service.

You cannot "save" a segment of PrePaid for later - or you lose it..

But I didnt "Pay" for it. Just like the OP, the PPM was paid for by the original owner of the car. (I am owner #2). I too notied it said pre-paid maintenance through 139,999 miles in the app as per the screen shot of the OP @netboy.

I appreciate you sharing. And this is probably what Mercedes *meant* when they published the app, but its not what the app "says".

@netboy Did you push back at all about this? I feel like mercedes f'ed up. They informed used car buyers (like us) that there was pre-paid maintenance by accident through the app, and then went "oh snap" how do we get out of this? Lets tell them 139,999 miles actually means 40,000 miles.... Just curious to learn form your experience. I have a meeting at the MB dealership tomorrow, and would love any insights before I sit down with them

Also, if you look at the updated app, any mention of pre-paid maintenance has been removed (as of 2020 at least). Guess they realized their mistake.

If you purchased a Mercedes with existing/unused Prepaid Maintenance direct from a Private Owner - then that Owner can process a change with Mercedes where the unused Prepaid Maintenance can be used by you as the next owner.

When trading in a Mercedes with unused Prepaid Maintenance to a Mercedes Dealer - make sure you get "credit" for the unused Prepaid Maintenance one way or another - either as a distinct additional price concession on that next Mercedes - or comparable Prepaid Maintenance "free" for that next Mercedes. Your Unused Prepaid Maintenance on your trade-in will be used by the dealer service dept to do CPO Service - so it's fair to get some type of reasonable accommadation.

If you bought your Mercedes from a dealer - whether a Mercedes dealer or any car dealer - then any unused Prepaid Maintenance from the previous owner drops off.

What you have said may be true in theory, but is not true in practice. I purchased my Mercedes car from a Honda Dealer, who had it as a trade in. I am the 2nd owner. The Mercedes car had PPM registered to the original owner. When I took the car in for the first time for ppm, I said that the original owner was a friend, and they never asked me about it again. They honored the PPM. Now, I only knew about the PPM becuase just like the OP @netboy , I saw that PPM existed in the Mercedes ME app until 139,999 for my car.

Now however, the dealer is telling me that I only "paid" for 4 PPMs, and my current service will be the last "pre-paid" PPM. I want to call BS, but want more experiences from the forum.

The Mercedes ME app has a lot of omissions and incorrect info when it comes to included maintenance and extended warranty, for me at least.

My CPO came with 2 years/2 services included maintenance that does not show up on the app.

Also came with 1 year CPO extended warranty starting when the original warranty ended, I paid to extend that warranty an additional 2 years after that. All that shows in the ME app is the original 4 year 50k warranty end date but the warranty is active 3 years beyond the end date on the app.

I have written contracts signed by me and the F&I Manager for both but it shows the ME app isnt the go-to for terms.

HaHa, it isnt the "Go-To" for terms when those terms are no in your favor! lol. I want to try to push them to honor the 139,999 miles that the app showed, just curious if anyone else has had any luck doing so.

go ahead, threaten a lawsuit
i asked them about it at 40,000 miles on my last ppm. the service advisor just said you can use those 4 ppm up to 139,000 miles.
after 40,000 miles, i just pay $$$$ for each service.

@netboy haha, like most people on MBworld complaining about the phase of the moon, my bark is significantly louder than my bite. Appreciate the confirmation. No, no threats of legal lawsuit nonsense.

This whole pre-paid maintenance thing just feels shady -- I do not like how they profit from maintenance that is not used. If it was paid for, then the service should be provided. Just trying to figure out what was "paid for" by the previous owner, so I can benefit from it.

No they will not honor it. The app shows you how long your warranty and/or associated services are VALID to be used. The app also isn't a contract and if you didn't pay for pre-paid maintenance you should not expect it, whether the previous owner did or not.
