50K mile 2015 C300 Wrist pin or no?

Hello all. I just got a 15 C300 4matic white AMG appearance car. I got its CPO from a dealer with 49000 miles for like 23 Grand cars ridiculously clean the engine sounds fine to me but I was wondering do you think if I had the wrist pin issue with this car by now it would have surfaced in to come much louder I was thinking of having another Mercedes dealer give it a listen rather than the one that sold it to me my engine VIN number does fall within the number that may have had it my question is do all of them have the bad components in that parameter of engine numbers or just some thank you

My 2015 has over 30,000 miles on it now. I had the dealer check for noise twice and they heard nothing unusual. I have not heard anything either. Since it's now been confirmed that this is more of a sound issue than an actual mechanical problem, and no premature wear has been reported, I opted to leave it alone.

If the wrist pin noise is obvious, and it bothers you, have it fixed under warranty. If not, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Thank you for your response. I am not new to cars by any means. I have not had a 4 cylinder car in about 30 years. My last one was a Toyota Celica GT (maybe a 1987 when I was in my 20's). I am 54 now and have had close to 200 cars in my life. I have 7 now. 1990 300SL with 70K miles on it, 1985 380SE with close to 200K on it, 2008 Impala LTZ, 2003 Lincoln Continental, 2017 Chevy Equinox AWD, 1985 Buick Lesabre collectors edition coupe. I also ride a 2007 Kawasaki ZZR600 (even at my age I stay trim enough to ride it no problem) and a 2007 Harley Wide Glide. I traded in a 2014 C300 4matic on this car. Prior to that I had a 2007 E350 W211 car (which sucked) 3 ML350's - 2006 which I totaled, 2007 which was ok, and a 2008 with air suspension which was the nicest on any 164 cars I ever had. I had at least 10 pick ups. Mostly GMC 2500 HD's some with Duramaxes when we camped as afamily and I pulled a 31 ft Jayco

I have Burmester, Blind spot assist, Keyless go, Multimedia PKG 320 Sport Pkg 321 Panoramic roof, LED lights Black ash wood heated seats. 18 amg wheels staggered as part of the package, Flat bottom steering wheel with paddles. the car is really nice. I had a 2009 C300 years ago- i loved that car at the time as well it had a 3.0 engine which IIRC was better balanced than the detuned 3.5 in the 2014 I just traded in. The C350 in the W204 gets the more powerful 3.5. The C300 gets a detuned one

Hi

Would love to get people’s opinion if this wrist pin issue is being replicated on my own early build 2015 w205.

The way to determine if you have the issue, you need to start a cold engine and accelerate to about 20 mph and then let off the accelerator. If you hear abnormal/loud ticking you have the problem. I can't tell from hogdad's or fishin88's posts if they have the problem.

Thanks Pete! If it helps, at the 20 second mark I revved the car up to about 2k RPM and let go. I believe around the 23 second mark I would suspect the loud clicking noises.

Did you have this problem and did the dealer address it?

Yeah, now that I listened to it again it does sound like it. But the easiest way to tell to to decelerate from 20 mph when the engine is COLD. For me, the dealer attempted to address the problem, but failed. I ended up selling the car, but now own a 2018 C300.

Yeah Buddy, They are fixing mine this Tuesday. If mine is any indication of it you definitely have it also. If you get the car good and warm you'll notice it goes away. Thats what the engine should sound like. Not like ours currently do. Have a competent dealer check it. Then try another if your not sure..

Thanks for the feedback guys. If anyone is in the Bay Area, can you suggest a good dealership? I’ve only been to the one in Pleasanton but they’ve often been very dismissive saying. “That’s just how the car is..”. Have an appointment scheduled but wouldn’t be surprised if they blew me off.

Hey Pete Did your sound like that marbles sound like mine or Fishn either before or after the repair? To me its crazy obvious unless I'm being told wrong by this tech??

Mine sounded more like Fishn's before the repair. After the repair, the ticking noise (while decelerating from 20 mph, when cold) was gone. But I lost about 20-30% of power and the car hesitated severely. I'm now in a 2018 C300.

Hey Hogdad,

just wanted to follow up to see how the repair went? Also, can you let me know how they diagnosed the issue? I really am getting anxious over thinking the dealership will try to play it off as if it’s not an issue..

The car is still there with the engine out and they are waiting on 1 part. Was told maybe mid week for completion but I have my doubts. Diagnosis was just hearing it. Your video sounds like your car has it. If your in doubt or your dealer doesn't acknowledge it just tell a salesman you want to drive a new one and listen to the difference..
