2015 C300 Sport (Wife's)
I don't think you can buy a "Used" one that has been registered to another vehicle but you can certainly buy an old one that has never been associated with a vehicle and update it.

I paid ~$100 for a 2015 card off of Amazon and loaded 2018 maps on it with no issues. The upgrade took several hours but other than that, no big deal.

From what I’ve heard, these cards were never used and taken from European vehicles that don’t need North America maps.

Do you know how to clone or backup the sd card? I'm just wondering what if the card goes bad can I just use backup version

I got my 2018 map update and software update at my Mercedes Dealer during service. The Dealer did not charge for this. The new software is a totally new
interface much easy to use.

The Dealer downloaded update to map pilot. They did not replace card. Mercedes Benz will update your software free of charge.
