C300 Remote Start Subscription Info
I am planning to purchase a used 2016 C300. I was interested in the remote start feature via Mbrace Connect even though there are bad reviews about it (I believe it only works 4/10 times, but on a very cold day, I'll still give it a shot for a chance at warming up the car!). What I'm a little confused about is how much it would cost after the 5-yr included plan. I talked to a salesman at an MB dealership and they said that it is included for the life of the car. For some reason, I'm a little skeptical. Any info on this would be appreciated.

There has been no info on what might happen after the 5yrs expires on MB connect - Mercedes will be changing over to a ATT system on 2019 forward - so literally no one knows what the carrier may choose to do after the original 5yrs expires - it has been rumored original free features will remaning free - but absolutely no formal confirmation - your "salesman" was talking bullsh*t..

C300 Remote Start Subscription Info
I have a couple of follow-up questions... I spoke with a number of MB dealerships and each one gave me a different answer on the MB Connect Service. I am hoping that people on the forum can help. I have two questions :
1. If I purchase a CPO C300 (let's say a 2016 or 17 model) , do I get the balance of the free MB Connect 5 year service or do I have to pay from day 1?
2. Starting what year was the remote start service available on the C300 (I have gotten answers in the range of 2015 to 2018)?
Thanks in advance!

I have no idea why any MB dealer couldn't give you straight/clear answer:
1. Yes - balance of original 5yr MB Connect is free
2. No one knows what will happen after 5yrs
3. W205 2016 and forward have MB Connect

Thanks for the info. I ended up calling MB Customer Service after getting conflicting answers from dealerships. The CR essentially said what you have posted here. One small caveat is that the 5-yr Connect trial starts from the year of the vehicle, not the purchase date. So, a 2017 car's trial period would start from Jan 2017 regardless of when it was purchased. At least, that's what they told me!

My 2015 C63 S did not have this feature and I found out it became available in 2016. I took delivery of my 2018 AMG GTR and was looking forward to this feature and lo and behold it didn't have it. My 2018 GLA 45 does and it's a joke. When it does work, it can take several minutes to start (if it does). Then when it does - it sometimes dies after thirty seconds and says error on my phone. I just picked up a 2015 C 300 Sport for my son, so it won't have it - no loss. All the ones I've seen (domestic), just fire up the car instantly from the key fob. I guess it wasn't meant to be in the standard MB key that's been used forever. If you ask me, it's just a novelty/gimmick to try a couple times. As others have stated it just doesn't work. Waste of time.

I assumed that this meant I could use the app to start the car? But from what I am reading on the forum today, this option was only available 2016 forward?
Thanks

Mercedes customer service representative told me today that I can only get the remainder of the free 5 yr MB Connect service if I purchase a CPO vehicle (2016 or newer). So, purchasing a used (non-CPO) vehicle requires the owner to buy MB Connect service from day 1?

During normal business hours - with VIN# in hand - 1st call Roadside Assistance (tel# is under your driver's side visor./mirror cover) and ask them if they can update your ownership info in the MB record (called VMI) for your VIN#
Once you have that done - wait one day - and with VIN# and call MBrace Customer Care 1-866-990-9007 and ask them if they can set you up for balance free MBrace - MBrace will check the VMI to confirm your ownership - they might need to "unwind" previous MBrace acct for your MB - and "probably" they get you setup on MBrace, or refer you to MBrace/Verison to get you setup including your choice 4-digit PIN# .
Once you have MBrace acct# - setup with your PIN# -m the download MercedesMe app
