Just a guess but I would assume it’s a major job that will require dealer or expert body shop involvement....if it can be safely done at all.

My solution below Even the Mercedes dealership didn't know how to do that.

The real safety question is if the deployment system for the rollbar is "one-shot-only" and if that needs to be replaced too - or you might be **** out of luck if there is a next time and it DOESN'T deploy.

If you are in the US contact MB Customer Care - and as a safety issue with your VIN# they WILL respond with correct info after they do engineering research

Without release the roll bar you can't close the roof top and remove the roll bar. You need to replace roll bar becouse is deployed no question abou that!

How to roll bar release mechanism looks inside see picture below

So, was the car actually rolled? What caused the bars to deploy?

Seem crazy that it would be a 1-time use bar.
Didn't the R129/R230 have an auto-deploy roll bar that could be retracted?

I recall a friend having the bar deploy on his SL in a hard (aggressive) turn & there was a method to lowering the bar.

Whether the roll bar for a particular model is "fixed" or "extendable" (so at better starting height when top is open) is not the issue - the issue is if the roll bar is triggered to "highest safety position" by the safety system which often is triggered by a "one-time-explosive-extender" - the question becomes for safety reasons do you need that "trigger" replaced to restore full safety to your MB.

Good luck !

2019 C43 Convertible
A newbie here... sorry to dig up this 2+ year old thread but just got a 2019 C43 with roll bars deployed due to light accident. With top up that is... so I have an exact same issue with OP.
So... has anyone figured out how to push the roll bars back in? short of just cutting it? rear seats are also locked and won't open and top wouldn't move either...

Do you have a pics that’s could help explain? Your help would be so appreciated.

I dont see any pics from others,i only see one pic of the roll bars up on first post? anyway what was the solution to this,it just seems to have gone dead, that usually happens when someone ask s about a thing,we all chip in our thoughts, then they discover how to fix it but forget to come back and tell all who was helping how it was done ha

The roll bar does need replacing, hey can be put back down and clicked into place, but the detonators are blown and may not work again, merc put mines down £150 labour, will replace them another day

Here is the solution to release the roll bars and push them back down, nyoud need to go to a dealership or remove or renew them £240, they are a one time deploy, but can click back into place till you decide to change them over and lets you use your roof for now, merc £150 to do this
there is no squibs/detonators/actuators to replace, you pull up on the square ring in the photo and it will release the tension and manually push them back into place hearing a click
they will leave a stretch mark on your roof material

photos below to show you where the pull ring is

how the bars look out of the car

part number

close up of square pull ring

how it looks without the rear dashboard shelf cover

pull on No. 2 and it releases the tension and allows you to push down and reset them back into place, but they will have to be replaced at some point
