Considering C400 but worried about 7 spd trans?

Read a number of threads regarding problems with the 7 speed, any fixes or advice?
Any other issues to watch for?

These are about $15-16K cheaper than the C43, I am guessing a tune & coilovers would bridge the gap?

C400
Mine has been great, owned about 6 months/8k miles.

No issues with smoothness of shifts either.

Must’ve hot a good one.

Don't buy it unless you can test drive the car for AT LEAST 1 hour, mostly shifting between 1st-2nd-3rd gears and you really like how it shifts.

Otherwise you'd be better off spending more on one with 9G even if you'd have to delay the purchase.

A gaggle of MB's
I have never had any of my customers have "performance" or "driveability" issues with the 7-speed - we did have one C400 that required tranny update - frankly that has been it.

From my side - I always spend time with my performance "oriented" customers before and after sale driving their MB and getting a good handle of their style of driving and what their MB will do ...

Keep the beat !

Have you actually found a C400 that you are interested in? These aren't common you know.

You should have not problem with the 7G in the C400 since it's not tuned by AMG

All of the shifting related issues I've experienced have been on all Mercedes transmissions, the 7G, 7G+, and the 9G that I'm driving now all eventually at times exhibit poor shifting characteristics in 1-2-3 driving around the city. I'm just used to it, and it really just is the way they are.

I have a C450 with the 7 speed trans and had a lot of poor shifting issues in the beginning. After pushing my dealer twice to fix the issue they did a software update and has been shifting perfectly ever since. The deal never acknowledged the issue though.
