Non-Run flat tires - Michelin Premier vs Defender

I have 2016 C300 4MATIC and planning to switch to non run flats as the roads i drive on are pretty bumpy and uneven. Priority wise comfort with a bit of sportiness.

Size : 225/50/17

Some choices i narrowed it down to are
1) Michelin Defender T+H
2) Michelin Premier A/S
3) Michelin Pilot Spots
4) Continental ExtremeContact DWS06

All the above are in the $150/tire range with varying tread life warranties.

Any recommendations? pros ? cons?

2016 C300 4Matic traded in for a 2022 E450 Coupe
I’ve had 2 sets of #4. They’ve been great. Original set lasted 40k miles

We have the Pilot Sport AS3+ on our Flex & they have been amazing.
Was going to put the same on my C300, but got a great deal on some Potenza RE980AS (nearly $400 less than the Michelins, installed) and they have been great as well in the almost 2 weeks I've had them on.

The Pilot AS3+ & Potenza RE980AS both have a 50k warranty.
I have the staggered 19" Sport pkg, so the Potenzas ran me about $800 installed, with road hazard. The Pilots were going to run ~$1,200.

Hoping the 500 treadwear holds up significantly better than the 260 treadwear on the OE Contis they replaced.

Thank you. DIscount Tire service person says Defender's are a much better deal with 80,000 warranty though i am concerned if it will have any sporty feel to it.

Not sure. I'd limited my search to the higher-performance all-seasons.
Wasn't even aware the Defender line was available for passenger cars, I only knew it a an LT tire.

That said, on the truck front, my dad has gotten extremely good tread life out of the LTX Defenders on his trucks.

C-Class Cabriolet
Conti DWS-06 on my 2018 C300 Cabriolet. So far so good - only done 3200 km since new. Insisted the dealer swap out those lousy run flats for these ones I wanted at no charge, and that's after all the haggling to lease this car. They did and I'm happy as a clam!

Michelin Defender T+H is passenger rated and Mercedes recommends either Ulta high performance or Luxury Performance rated tires. So got pilot sport A/S 3+ at discount Tire for 729$ with certificates (Got price matched to Costco - @Njriedel25). Getting them mounted tomorrow.

That's a smokin price on the Pilot AS3+
Around here, they're just sub-1k installed.

I got Michelin Premier A/S 3+'s for $704 from Tire Rack last May, including shipping. The size matters; mine are 17". Installation at my local independent shop was $330, including balancing, TPMs, etc. Because I did run the full-side-wall height 17" tires on a Luxury suspension, my experience with the runflats wasn't the rock-hard, wheel-breaking ride that some posters have described. Still, the Michelins are a great improvement. Turn-in (response to steering inputs) is not "sharp," but there is no real lag either. They go where they are pointed. Plus, reviews say they have technology that will preserve wet-road tuning and braking, even as the tires wear.

Why was installation that expensive? It was free with Costco's Michelin promotion which Discount tire price matched (Even without it i think cost is around 20$ a tire including TPMS)

Drove hardly 30 miles, definitely better when you hit decent sized pot holes but doesn't seem better in slight rough roads.

Anyone have experience with discount tire certificates? For 20$ a tire with a 10 year refund/replacement warranty seems like a really good deal especially with excellent customer service reputation the company has.

I just bought a set of 4: for my 2004 S500. I had a set of Premiere Michelins prior that I got 50K miles out of. I think my Premieres has a softer compound because they were V (149 MPG) speed rated. Since the Defenders are H rated (130 MPH) they may have a bit harder compound. Since I don't drive over 130 (even though my ECM was modified to remove the speed limiter) I think I will like these tires.
