Pano Roof Failure
#26
The 5 cent plastic piece is not sold separate anyways so you can’t fix it by itself if you wanted to. I looked everywhere and asked a few dealers for a diy fix after the dealer quote. I see in other threads people quoted 3k. That’s bs. Mine is also the passenger side. Part should be metal with an insert for grease retention. Poor design. The rails are screwed from the inside under the headliner. So you have to remove everything. The rails online are $240 but mb didn’t say they would use parts bought myself. Prob worth the extra 200 to have them warranty the work. I’ll fix it one day. Just don’t use the roof anyways to care.

Has anyone had any water leaking issues? My right side sticks up a bit and catches some wind. Wasn’t sure if I need to worry about that.
Also, I thought someone had a quote for $1,700? $3k is freaking insane.

I have extended CPO warranty and hope this is covered. MB USA should be aware of their design flaw and suggest a fix - recall. Most customers may have this piece broken and not even be aware of this. Also the auxiliary battery replacement without resetting the roof limits could have played a role.
Unacceptable- we need to start calling MB.

If anyone needs panoramic roof MB WIS documents (remove/install) or videos see link below.

So how about the rails. The real problem. Curious if we have to disconnect the motor or other parts or can just leave all that alone and pull the rails.

Shame we don't have WIS guides for the rails - I'm going to try and install the plastic without removing everything, but if I have to, I will.
Thank you Benzdude for sharing the headliner/pano roof WIS guides - they will come in handy.

Do you have a link. Or pic. Also does it come with the pin? When mine disintegrated I removed the broken bits but didn’t see the connecting pin. When I removed the pano I didn’t see a way to slide a new piece in. You can unscrew the good side and try but it slopes down and the track ends where it pulls the pano closed. I believe you can only feed it from the rear which is block by the slider.

I managed to order the plastic bits from Europe off Ebay (from Turkey I think). They look the exact same as the OEM, just a white plastic instead of black.

Due you have the link from eBay for the black plastic guides in the photo. Not keen on spending $1700, when I'm about to upgrade. TIA

SAME ISSUSE 15’ C300
Alright. They better fix this as my passenger side plastic piece has been broken for a year in my c300 15’. That same plastic piece you all are talking about, the same exact one. Spring weather just hit here in Minnesota so now it’s back on my radar. Sunroof stays closed for most part, but I do have wind noise seldom with cold temps.
Interested to see if that plastic part works for you guys... my c300 is currently in the shop for other repairs out of warranty totally $4,559. This doesn’t include the $1,500 crankcase value I replaced a month ago! I joking emailed the Mercedes dealer about it just now, while your at it with my lemon check out the sunroof. I also have 73k miles if that helps.

2015 C300 Pono Roof Issues
The Pono roof of my C300 won't close. The roof almost gets to the closed position and stopped. The dealer is demanding $3,500 to fix it. Does anyone have the same issue? Is there any recall for the 2015 C300 Pono Roof? Does anyone have a simple fix?

I had the plastic piece on the bottom break into pieces. Pano still works fine but does not seal completely causing wind noise. Can anyone verify a part number or if this piece can be replaced. Only part from the ipb that might be close is the ts slide shoe 222-780-00-00-64. Stealership wants 800 plus labor to replace both rails. Spendy for a small piece of plastic
I have the same issue, driver side. The Pano closes, but I hate the wind noise while driving. Its seems like there is an issue with this, seeing the number of people with the same issue. This seem to me a safety issue. If that piece breaks while driving, and not aware. It gets windy, the pano might detach and hurt somebody. We can report this to https://www.nhtsa.gov to make it a recall item and MB should be fixing it. It is complete BS to charge that much money for that.

I got my pano roof track broken on the driver side a little past 50k miles and mb literally said oops too bad your SOL. We will give you 10% off though so the total would be $3,xxx. I even have certified preowned unlimited mileage warranty but pano roof isn't covered under cpo warranty past the factory 4yr/50k. Even my 2012 kia optima sx didn't have any issues with the pano roof smh...

Do you believe everything a salesman tells you?. There are exclusions. Read your contract. For example , batteries, shocks, struts. .
