Black Plastic Panel Behind Door Panel Removal?

I am not only trying to run new speaker wire from my amps directly to the speakers in the doors but I'm also trying to replace the door handle LEDs. I took the interior door panel off, removed all the toques holding in the big plastic panel and i cant get it off. Seems the panel is connected to the window motor and is riveted to the door? I dont know, any insight will be greatly appreciated.

I've got the same problem myself, I think that some rivets need to be drilled out but I'm not sure which ones. I should think that the battery wants disconnecting due to the airbag. The inner black panel is known as the window regulator mechanism as far as I know. The glass might need to come out to get to the door handle. Like you, I'd like to see a guide because I don't want to pay dealer prices now it's out of warranty.

I’m pretty sure to remove the handle LEDs you need to remove the handle and not the door panel. There’s a video on you tube showing how to do it ...

I tried removing the outside door handle but there no way to get the led out, it’s mounted on the inside and there is a small piece that sticks out with the led on the end of it. The first door took me 2 hours, the 2nd one took me 20mins. You have to loosen the window from the track, tape it up, push the black panel over then you can get to the led

Did you have to drill out any rivets?

In case someone is attempting this, the back I didn’t have to take the window out, just loosen the screw and tape the window up. The fronts I had to take the window completely out of the door.

I have had the LEDs replaced by a dealer previously so I'm guessing that the rivets that I now have in the door panel were put in because the original screw holes became corrupted. Did you have any rivets to remove?

In one of the pictures above you can see rivets in the middle of the panel that go up the door. They hold the window track in. Before I took the window out of the track I thought the panel was riveted to the door but it’s not. Once the window is out if the track, I just unscrewed the torques, pulled some of the grommets back and it came free

Were you successful in your attempt to fix the LED door handles?

Haven't attempted it yet but armed with all this information I'm confident enough to do it now.

Done it in about a hour and a half, thanks for all this information, it would have been impossible without it. Putting the door handle was the most difficult part, definitely a knack to it and not as easy as all the youtube videos make out. Thank you.

I just changed the LED in the right rear door, pretty easy and took me about 30 min.

After the LED change the keyless entry does not work on the Right hand side of the car and keyless start does not detect the FOB.

Has anyone experienced the same issues ?

I hadn't seen your update on the non keyless go operation, did you manage to get over the problem?

Good to know, seems like a great way to deny the dealerships quoting me a large bill.

I had three LED replaced under warranty, but the drivers door handle LED has failed again (about 2 years on from the original replacement under warranty)

I bought the LED off ebay for 1/3 of the 650 norwegian kr (approx 80 usd) the stealership quoted me and the job took me about an hour to do. Next time i’ll do it in 30 min

two weeks after this both of my puddle lights under the mirrors died. Swapped those out in about 15min each.

So is the LED bulb part screwed onto the window regulator?

I found this video although it's for the front door.
