Cruise control braking?
Hi
When you set the cruise control speed on the W250, would it automatically brake to keep you to the speed set if you were going downhill and speed picks up due to gravity?

Actually the cruise control does not use the brakes but basically uses engine braking. It does not apply the brakes and the brake lights do not come on. The computer senses ad it reaches the desired speed and then backs off if it thinks the speed will go over the set speed.

I was going to upgrade to a CT6 but it has transmission issues as well so MB just might be my next ride. I must say I dont see owners over here listing near as many issues as I have in my 4 years over at the ATS forum. I'm selling my house right now but once the dust settles I'll pull the trigger on something

That's true, the vehicle uses brakes to bring the speed down to set speed. On a flat road or uphill and if the speed difference is not much it can just coast till desired speed is achieved. NO engine braking.

Yes, the brake lights do come on.
Try it at night. Set cruise control, depress the accelerator to go above set limit then resume set speed. The vehicle will brake and if you check the rear view mirror you will notice the center brake light coming on.

I do still have my ATS but have been looking at C Class models, love the W205 style. Been lurking over here to get educated and hear some feedback. Love my ATS but it has developed the dreaded "torque converter shudder" recently and my year isn't covered in the class action lawsuit that was just filed so its gotta go!

We seriously considered the C CAB version, but opted instead for the E class which has the twin turbo 6, a little more back seat room and of course, the fabulous widescreen digital dash.
