Cheap $30 center consol led DIY
So I decided to install led’s surrounding my center console because mine did not come with ambient lighting. I know they sell kits online for about $400 but i’m Also leasing my car so I didn’t want to start taking too much apart. And I know you could buy the center console light on eBay for about $100 but it’s from China and I heard about them overheating. So I went to amazon and purchased a basic led kit for $30 bucks (but you can get them way cheaper) and removed my center console and wrapped the length that I needed around the console and positapped the wires to I believe was the harness for my center clock for the power and it looks great.
I didn’t even have to take the entire console apart. Just wrapped the leds around it
I just connected it to red for positive and brown for negative

I took some night time photos. The kit has an wall outlet so I cut the wire and just connected it to positive and negative. And you can’t even see the actual led strip itself when you enter the vehicle just the light.
This is the kit but you can use any kit you want
This is where I cut the wire from the wall outlet and posi tapped it
Here are some positive taps which are way better than t taps

Yes I do but I put the receiver under the center console so I just have to pull the centers console silver plastic trim up just a little so it can connect, and change colors. But I usually keep it one color anyway

Thanks,
What is your sellers name? (Not shown in the picture).
Also, can you take a better picture of the fronts and back mats and a really close view of the pattern. Pretty Please?
I am trying to decide if I should get brown w/ white stitching (like you) or black w/ red stitching for my black interior. (how did you decide?)

How much work was it to remove the side panels of the console? I want to route a charging cable in the console rather than it being dangled on the side. And may look into an ambient lighting solution like this in the future.

I chose the color based off my interior trim color which is brown.
I will take pictures for you in the morning when I wash my. Car

Ill take take a picture in the morning of how I did mine, but it’s very easy and I used a flat cable that way I could have a clean fit and it goes into my phone for CarPlay

No kidding......I was in the process of buying a LED tape to do the same thing......did you completely remove the console cover or keep it connected (by the wires) to the controls? TIA....Jon

I see you purchased one with a remote/phone app. For the light to come on, do you have to manually turn it on with remote/app, or will it come on with ignition/accessory since it's hard-wired?

I actually uninstalled it because I went ahead and purchased this instead since I wanted it to seem more stock since with this one you can control it from the factory switch in the car. But the one from amazon held up fine.
