There is so many post around C300 but very little on fixing and replacing parts on the C450/C43 AMG engines.
This affects 4 cyl only. This part is not used on the V6

I encourage everyone who is getting this repair done to have the engine harness checked for oil intrusion. About 50% of the ones I replace have oil inside the harness that has leaked through the electrical connector of the crankvent valve. Easiest place to check for oil is at the engine computer connectors.

I took it to my mechanic here in Maryland along with the printed out "step by step" instructions that are stated in this thread and it took him 3 hours @ $84.00 an hour totaling around $ 264.00. So with the parts of $ 311.00 the total was $ 575.00 less the core return rebate of $ 30.00 brought it "out the door" of $ 545.00.
I was lucky that my mechanic knew about this, was experienced about this, and though it was labor intensive he got through it using his knowledge and a few peeks at the "step my step instructions".
The dealership had quoted me $ 1682.00 for this repair and it was NOT covered by my extended warranty. Man,. I should have gotten the Mercedes Benz extended warranty as I read here that in some cases they covered it.
If everyone here that had the same problem reported it to NHTSA there may be enough data to mandate a recall. It takes about 10 minutes to fill out the online complaint. Here is the link https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/
THANK YOU again to everyone here at MB World for you all are truly the best.
Thank u, Jeff. No doubts, t's very useful tale. But what namely vehicle do u mean? I'm tired of finding for the part to fix P052E error on my 2015 MB C300 RWD (NOT 4matic). I have read that I should to replace damn Crankcase Ventilation Valve mounted into Intake Line, assembly. Unfortunately, guys at this forum give the latter part nos. for 4matic or GLC only. Sellers I asked have offered Intake Line marked with different nos. as follow: 274090-1600, 274090-1600-80, 274090-1729, 274090-1729-28, 274090-1729-80, 274090-5500, 274090-5500-80, 274090-5600, 274090-5600-28, 274090--5600-80, 274090-5600-84. And depend on its no. the part has three different sizes according to their descriptions. In particular, 1729 and 1729-80 have 53x33x24cm, 1729-28 64x57x14cm, all of 1600 and 5500 groups as such as 5600, 5600-28, 5600-80 are 51x35x26cm, but 5600-84 is 67x28x16cm. It make me crazy as I don't know which of them fits 2015 MB C300 RWD. Could anybody be so kind of giving me the correct part no., please?

2018 E300 4matic
Known issue with E series 2017 through 2019. Even if they replace it, mine failed AGAIN after 14 months. Everyone with this issue needs to report it to NHTSA as Mercedes needs to have pressure to issue a safety recall for this problem as it can cause the engine to stall in traffic, including stranding you in nowhere.

like Sang Vo said,
i would buy only the valve part, and clamp with some hoses or fittings. Cheaper and 1 hour easier job.

Replacing the whole part with oil separator and large hoses is big job. Takes several hours.

2018 E300 4matic
Crankcase ventilation valve

I had this all replaced 14 months ago by dealer. Then, same error code. Took to dealer and says it was damaged this time because the place I get service "put in too much oil". Says 1.5 quarts too much and that damaged it again. This is a known failure in this series of vehicles. I have a 2018 E300 4 matic. I don't believe the dealer. I think they are saying this as an excuse as it is now out of warranty and want to charge me >$2000.00. Reported this part failure to NHTSA as is so common in these vehicles and Mercedes has failed to issue a recall.

Thank you for posting this. I guess they are extending the warranty on this to 15 years or 150k miles. I just received a letter from MB. Your car won't pass smog because of this. I'm getting the same P052E71 fault code.

po52e update

hey guys this is my 1st post. I wanted to make sure I could help where possible. I have owned 4 mercedes now thru the years. here is a great update:
I got the dreaded p052e code. I waited 6 months to have it fixed. got it done 3 weeks ago for FREE! I went to a trusted shop of ex mercedes mechanics. they said to call mercedes as now this is a known problem and mercedes is calling it an "EXTENDED WARRANTY" I went to mercedes and they said yes we will fix it for free and give a loaner out until it is complete. mercedes told me that because so many people are having this problem on models from 2015-2019 around 90k-130k, they are trying to avoid an action lawsuit so they will fix it for free. i hope this helps!
also, I just got in the mail another one that says they will fix your intake line assembly, and/or the partial load ventilation valve for 2015-2020 C/E/GLC/SLC AND SLK Models for free as well. this one is an extended warranty up to 140k miles.
good luck, and hopefully you guys read this. let me know

I can confirm this. Yes they are fixing it for free if you are getting the P052E71 fault code under the extended warranty. Sorry i forgot to follow up my post after the service.

I also got the letter for the extended warranty, and they fixed it for free. But the same week, my turbo threw a code and they said the wastegate actuator is now leaking and needs replaced. My boyfriend thinks the damage could have been caused by the PCV problem. Does anyone have an opinion on this? Should I pressure MB about covering this repair? Thanks

Hello evreyone, I’ve had my 2016 c350e for about 6 months now. recently I’ve had EML (engine management light) I’ve taken it to a dealer they have diagnosed it and the following codes have come up P052e71, P001785, P06DA00, probable cause is a crankcase ventilation and something todo with the cameshaft/crankshaft, has anyone had this issue, the car drives perfectly well I’ve had no problems with it the engine sounds perfectly fine, could it be something else, such as timing chain or etc

there is a recall and extended warranty to take care of the crank case ventilation issue. I would see if the dealer can fix it under that for free. Better to do it now than to have it occur later or cause other issues.

P052e71,
You need to fix in months.
Recall exists.
Ask reimburse if you already fixed by your cost.

P06DA00
Engine oil pump not critical part got error.
TSB says IGNORE this code unless you see CEL because of this code.
Some people fix it by replacing wire harness inside of the oil pan.
I have this code. And I ignore.

15 c300 4matic
I have my 15 c300 4matic in my garage currently---driving Monday in Iowa bitter cold -15 or so. Light came on said check oil at next fuel fill up. Checked oil no oil touching stick tail pipe had black snow all around it and some residue dripping from it. Added 2liters of oil still not touching stick at 47k miles currently.---Pulled turbo inlet hose and found the oil was pushed through pcv pipe into turbo and out exhaust. Dealer stated if certain code is present pcv system will be replaced.

thank you for the help, do you have any knowledge about the other code that’s come up P001785. I think it has something todo with the timing or timing chain, would it be a costly repair or is that also coverd buy Mercedes-Benz.

I sure hope so I am in Vancouver with the same issue on my 2017 GLC 300. Interesting about the oil thing is my German mechanic said to thicken the oil to 15/40 he thinks the thin oil is creating too much blow by.

I just sent in a request to a local MB dealer here in Ontario. Will let you know what they say! If they can cover here in Ontario I’m sure they’ll cover the cost in BC as well.

What is your Merc? I bought a recertified 2017 GLC 300 from the dealer here and it has been nothing but problems. Brakes after 9 months, tires 10 months, 15 months Engine light for underheating up, 24 months engine light for Oil pan sensor, and now this PCV valve issue. (nothing is covered by warranty and has cost me thousands) I have only put 40k since buying this car 3 years ago. Trying to get this car into the dealership service is ridiculous its weeks and if you want a courtesy car forget it! I sold my 2018 Audi sedan to buy this merc SUV, what a mistake! Worst of all was thinking that a recertified MERC would be next to new!
