Check Engine Code P052E

Just got the dreaded check engine code P052E : Positive Crankcase Ventilation Regulator Valve Performance. My car just got out of warranty a few months ago. Could someone please provide a WIS guide and parts list? I'm aware this is a very difficult repair.

I've attached the repair guides straight out of WIS. I have more files but they won't upload for some reason.

I just got the code too. Any idea how much the dealer will charge out of warranty for a 2015 C300?

I haven't gone to the dealer. But from what I was reading online. It's $1500-2000 repair.

My engine light turned off yesterday. Could it be the change in weather or something that caused it? Sure hope it doesn't come back so I can avoid paying 1500 to fix.

I had the same code a few weeks ago, the light came on and off every few days until I was able to get it into the dealer. luckily my car was still under warranty so it was fixed for free, not sure how much it would have costsout of warranty, the service advisor did say this is a common problem with 2015 C300's.

Bringing mine in to the dealer next week. Frustrating that this is a common problem that happens just after warranty is out (55-60k) and costs approximately $1500-$2000...

This happened with our 15 and the same code. The check engine light sporadically appeared and it felt like warmer weather solved the issue. Possible the extended warranty paid itself off in this case. I feel sorry for anyone paying this out of pocket because based on the dealer work sheet this was a labor intensive fix.

Any chance you still have the work sheet?

I got a fantastic deal on a used 2015 C300 4matic this past August. - it only had 16,000 miles on it! I recently hit 32,000 miles (yes - I love this car and drive it a LOT) and I ended up with a P052E code. In my search for answers, I joined this forum and I found your posts for the PDFs which are very helpful. I'm planing on doing this fix myself and will likely tackle others in the future. Thank you for posting these PDFs - do you know if its possible and, if so, where I can get a copy of the full manual?

Yes, WIS is available online: https://mbwis.net/. After I made this post a fellow member sent me this URL. I generated the above pdfs from my own local install of WIS 03/2019. Here's a direct link to our specific car model: https://mbwis.net/en/205.049/274.920/722.969 and here's a direct link to crankcase ventilation fix: https://mbwis.net/en/205.049/274.920/722.969/01/20. Good luck on getting it fixed! My code came back yesterday after we got heavy rain and it went away today. I am buying the replacement part tomorrow and will hopefully get it fixed in the next couple of weeks. Let us know how it goes and please sure your experience!

My light turned on and off 4 times the past month. The dealer said it's not an urgent fix and can wait til my next service. I'm trying to put it off since I'm out of warranty and they said it was around 1200 to fix because of 5 hours labor.

Same with my dealer. Bought a beautiful CPO 2016 with just under 39k miles on Saturday (one year of factory warranty remaining). CEL came on about two thirds into my 600-mile road trip home from buying the car. Dealer diagnosed P052E and told me there's nothing urgent unless the CEL starts blinking. They've scheduled me for next Monday (the next time loaners are available), but it still feels weird driving around with a CEL.

Covered by extended warranty. Seems to happen at ~55k. Wonder if it’ll act up again at 100k again. I’m trying to figure out if I want to keep this car for the long run or not

Well that's odd, my car is only at 32k. The original factory warranty just ended in May, but i still have the additional 1 year cpo warranty.

Better now than later i guess.
