W205 Piggyback Tunes, DINAN vs Burger Motorsports

Hi,

I was recently able to purchase my first Mercedes Benz, a C250 (Australian market) and I couldn't be any happier!
I love the car, however the lag when accelerating is a bit of a bummer, I have been riding a tune may help,
At these price points I'm willing to give one a go, however I am a torn between these two:

If anyone has any insight on either any thoughts would be appreciated.

Option 1:

DINANTRONICS Sport Performance Tuner

https://www.dinancars.com/product/d4...turbo-engines/

Option 2:

Burger Motorsports JB4 Tuner

Nice looking car and congrats AND welcome. Does the car have a comfort mode and a sport mode?? I believe some of the cars that do usually start off in 2nd gear when in C mode, versus starting off in 1rst gear in S mode.
Hope that helps. And The name BURGER would be my choice

Hi hyperion667 & thank you!

Yes indeed the car does have the Agility select modes
However I find even in Sport + mode there is a much long lag before the car even gets moving from a stop.

I've experimented with driving and found that when at a complete stop if you press the - paddle and engage 'M1' gear is does move quicker off the mark but it would be nice to have something that is 'set and forget'.

Not sure if the JB4 will support the c250. I would check with their support first. I have a jb4 of my 19' C300 and it is a night and day difference!

Try disabling ESP from the service menu, then experimenting with the different modes. I find on my c400 that unless I also have ESP disabled (and the associated annoying warning light illuminated) the ECU interferes with responsiveness at launch. It may even apply to all throttle inputs.

To address the main point of the thread, I'm on JB4 and do recommend it. It's plug and play if you want it to be, but also highly customizable if you decide you want more. This assumes JB4 and not stage 1, but even with the stage 1 from BMS you can set the map to #6 (please confirm) and make adjustments. It's useful even if you decide to do a full ECU tune at a later date and then want to log or customize via JB4. It's really a win/win in my opinion.

This sounds promising! Is the C300 a 6 or 4 cyl model?
(In Australia we have the C200, C250, C43 6cyl, and C63(s) - There is a variant of the C300 however its a hybrid only model)
I was leaning towards the JB4 after fining the manufacturer active on here. I may have to give them a PM to make sure my model is compatible.

I've actually never tried any of those settings, time to get behind the wheel and give everything a go.
I'll definitely try your suggestion first most.

Another promising comment for the JB4,

So if I understand correctly in terms of most power output it goes, Stage 1 BMS, JB4 then custom ECU tune
however I would be able to use the JB4 with a custom tune in the future and just that device as a means to 'select' my desired tune level?

I am, by no means, an expert on how to use the JB4. I have only played around with map 1 and 2 on mine since upgrading from stage 1. From the research I did, though, you'd be able to modify the same signals to a tuned ecu that you can on the stock mappings on the ecu. The JB4 intercepts sensor signal and passes it on to the ecu with the tweaks imposed by the JB4 itself. That doesn't change just because your ecu has a tune.
So, if you had a 93 octane tune you could use the JB4 to tweak for e85 mix, or just to get the most out of your tune, to still have logging, or maybe even a valet or mileage map. That's what's so cool about the JB4, it gives you control. Burger Motorsports gives you support to help you get the most out of it t too. Again, I have yet to play around with map 6 (user modified) myself, but there are folks doing pretty awesome things with the JB4.

C300 is the 4 cylinder turbo, C400, C450, C43 are all V6 twin turbo here

oh and the Dinan is probably equivalent to the JB1.

The JB4 is a significantly more versatile tuner.

There is absolutely no comparison, the JB4 provides a ton more tuning potential and features and will have a better resale value later too.
