Voltage converter

After having message "stop vehicle , shift to P (park), leave engine running" showing on my dashboard for the past few weeks I had a diagnostic test done at a local garage which confirmed that it was a faulty voltage converter and wanted £310 inc 3 hours labour to replace it. I bought a replacement from a mercedes main dealer for £90 and replaced it myself in less than 20 minutes. Apart from accessing it , it is a fairly straight forward process as seen on youtube. However the message is still showing. So my question is should the message go away automatically or does it have to be reset some how?

That is weird, I had an Auxiliary Battery Malfunction message on my dashboard. I went to MB dealer they changed it. Your message is related to the main battery. This message appears when it becomes weak. See attached picture. Maybe your local mechanic was wrong?

Thanks for reply. I did maybe think that was the problem but this has been happening for several weeks and the car is running fine. Starts first time every time and the additional functions e.g. Heaters, radio etc are working fine also. But I will take your advice anyway and get the main battery checked out to see if its losing charge and replace if necessary.
Thanks

Sorry I forgot to mention that MB dealer told me an auxiliary battery is basically a voltage converter. Because as I said i had an Auxiliary Battery Malfunction in my dashboard.

You mightmight want to check this post. This guy had the same message as yours.

I have exactly the same issue. It began a couple of weeks ago. I realised the start/stop has stopped working and instead of a green A on the dash, it was now yellow. I got a replacement auxiliary battery/voltage convertor from main dealer for £153. The message disappeared but then reappeared the next day. Start/stop still didn’t work and I leave the sat mac and media screen off cos immediately the message comes up. But now it’s coming on as soon as I start the engine. Is there anyone who has actually had a result after replacing the aux battery? Especially the start/stop working again?

This message as seen on the picture I posted earlier on this thread is related to the main battery not the auxiliary battery. If there an fault in the last you will see Auxiliary Battery Malfuction message on your dashboard.

I had the main battery checked and that is working and charged fine. And from the various forums and webpages I have read (many!!) they all seem to point to the start/stop being run by the aux batt/voltage converter

Thats the message I get
