“Sport Brake” vs “Standard brake”

Good day all,

About to pull the trigger on a very nice 2019 C300 wagon. It comes with the Sport Package which comes with several Bodykit pieces along with a “sport brake” system. Does anyone know if it’s actually “bigger” brakes or just the standard brakes with “Mercedes Benz” inscribed on the calipers?

Thanks!

2017 S205 200d AMG sport package
The front brake calipers of the sports package are bigger. And the discs are perforated.

I think you're right, I havent seen a C400 without sports package, but yea if you have C300 or anything else with sports package, the brakes are upgraded to Brembos.

C300 Wagon
With the AMG Sport package you get Cross Drilled disks 342 X 32 mm. Standard are 330mm I think.
Plus you get the different wheels, suspension etc.

Thank you for the replies everyone.

I’m gonna assume they’re all 4 pistons calipers and the 6 pot’s are reserved for the AMG’s?

I don't know how many pistons they have. Does anyone have any pictures of a sport package C300 caliper? I haven't been under my car yet or have had the front wheels off yet.
Would be nice to have some more wagons on the forum!!!

The larger calipers of the Sport option are still only 4 pots.

Almost all MB calipers are made by Brembo. Even the little two-pot ones. You can see when you take them off.

Upgraded brakes were std on the C400. With the C450 and C43 they fancified 'em a litlle bit, but otherwise they are the same. They are very fine brakes. C63 gets even bigger discs and 6 pot front calipers I think. Then C63s gets slightly larger fronts and has optional carbon ceramics as the top shelf brake upgrade.

As far as I know they're the same siwe, but the difference I believe is that the rear discs are ventilated/perforated, I wouldn't really care about brake performance that much tho, if you are somehow not happy with their performance upgrade the pads once they run out

I can’t imagine these cars with the 6 pots. My Sport model with the big caliper 4 pots will stop on a dime and spit out change lol.

The C63 is a bit heavier and makes good use of the 6 pots. The C400/450/43 has a great braking system but you can wring out a little more performance with upgraded pads. The bonus is that mild upgrades are similarly priced or only slightly more than OEM.

C300 Wagon
Yes...with the added weight and high top speed I can see why the C63 has the big front brakes.
I am supper happy with the stock brakes on my C300 wagon. They are nice and big and cross drilled, no complaints
